Hi allyharp, theres not a great deal up at Cathkin Braes, just some shared paths (i only go up there for the climb and the view). There are some built trails at Pollok that are worth a look, not exactly extensive but there are some nice features (logs, jumps and some nice rootsy stuff). Have you bee...

I'm into mountain biking – XC and Freeride mainly, only use the roads to get to local trails (Cathkin Braes, Pollok Park). Scotland not only has some excellent natural Mountain biking trails (as you would expect), it also has some of the best man-made mountain bike centres in Europe (World?). :D

A good cycle route is from the city centre to Cathkin Braes 'n Back, done this several times and always found the climb up via Busby and Carmunnock is well worth the descent back into the city. Its a short run by some standards but one of the most traffic free 'n rewarding (in terms of the decent). ...

User List

I found a great Mod for deleting multiple users and their login keys/sessions without going into the database and messing around in there. Its called User List and i've been using it for about a month or two without any problems, its a great feeling deleting 50+ spammers with just one click! http://...

The future of the City? Thurs 24 May The Lighthouse

As part of the Six Cities Festival Prospect is organising a debate on the future of the city. It will look at both ‘post–industrial’ cities, like Glasgow, and expanding urban centres across the world. The speakers will be Keith Brownlie from Wilkinson Eyre, the designer of Newcastle’s Stirling Prize...

Great story Dugald.

I used to cycle a daily commute into the City of London everyday and the intolerance of motorists always astonished me.

Garageband

Don't wanna get into the whole Mac vs PC debate, but you can't go wrong with Apple's Garageband. Guitar (or any other instrument) plugs straight into your Mic port (or use the Macs built-in Mic for a nice acoustic tone) and voila... multi-track recording, plus you have access to a host of sound loop...

The Sex Museum on the Damrak is worth a visit, not at all sleazy and quiet interesting. You should also pay a visit to the Bloemenmarkt (Flower Market).

I may be courting controversy here but it seems to me that drugs use is never going to be fully eliminated from sport. From that standpoint why not just level the playing field and make it legal? For sports like cycling you could have a handicap system in place with those testing positive receiving ...

I never really got into road cycling or the club scene. I am a keen mountain biker though and there are some great offroad routes in and around Glasgow, my current favourite is Carron Valley http://www.carronvalley.org.uk . I take my hat off to the roadies I see tackling the 'tak me doon' road on my...

Excellent post Dugald.

Sadly cycling is not quite as popular thesedays although a few of those old clubs still exist and you can sometimes see them heading off on a Sunday morning if your up and about early enough.
