Re: Frankie Boyle

I see Frankie Boyle is in bother again, this time over a line on Radio 4s Political Animal: "the state of Palestine to a cake "being punched to pieces by a very angry Jew". http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8650254.stm I can see why it was "offensive", but what is mis...

Re: Elections - May 6-2010

Rab McNeils analysis of the STV debate raised a chuckle.

Serious political journalists that are not afraid of using the word 'pish' get my vote.

Re: Elections - May 6-2010

Then the rest of us can get on with the job of spending more of what we earn on ourselves as opposed to propping up the bone idle. I understand only too well what you are getting at; your first point was that there should be some kind of educational qualification for voting but that seems to have m...

Re: Elections - May 6-2010

I think you missed my point, the folk that would get snipped out the equation aren't paying anyway. Yes, but would they all meet your qualification to vote requirement? You do require to demonstrate some epitude in order to be considered for the British Army, it's not just monkeys with guns. I'd gi...

Re: Elections - May 6-2010

So if you fail the test, does that mean you no longer have to pay tax? Suspect a very high fail rate. I don't recall mentioning not paying tax, I daresay those who would fail to meet any suitable education standard are probably bleeding the tax system already as opposed to contributing so there wou...

Re: Elections - May 6-2010

Maybe it's time to introduce some sort of educational qualification before people are allowed to vote. That's a brilliant idea! So if you fail the test, does that mean you no longer have to pay tax? Suspect a very high fail rate. Would the people not paying tax be prepared to give up accessing the ...

Fingerprints

Anybody know how/where I can get my fingerprints taken in Glasgow? (without putting a brick through a window etc..) Asked at my local police station, got a blank look over the top of a Daily Record. Phoned a woman in Pitt Street she said they can be done there, the guy at the front desk in Pitt St s...

Re: New high-speed rail plan unveiled

As long as it gets as far as the North of England. I believe the SPT would be able to advise on how to get from Glasgow to Manchester.

Who knows, they might even be able to recommend a good place for lunch whilst waiting for your train south.

Re: Help! Car security advice needed!

Agree with Dave. If your car is targeted, not much you can or should do about it. However opportunists are a different story. I know most of these are obvious but my tips would be: 1. Don't buy the insurance on price alone, if you need a replacement car while yours is being used to toast marshmallow...
