Re: Do you feel defensive about Glasgow ?

In terms of murder rates and crimes, the thing about Glasgow is that these things just seem to happen randomly - without any real reason behind an attack.

In the rest of Europe you might get done in, but it'll be because they want your wallet or your ipod.

Does that seem accurate?

Re: Do you feel defensive about Glasgow ?

I used to stick up for glasgow, but since starting working on the trains and seeing the shite that the residents leave behind, i dont anymore...we're a manky town with manky residents. I agree with that but it's not just a Glasgow problem, it goes through the whole of Scotland. It's full of people ...

Re: Unerground station under botanic gardens

Good luck finding somewhere.

One of my friends says the best gig he's ever been to was a Frightened Rabbit one!

Re: How do you get there?

My usual work is about 15 minutes walk on foot.

My current, temporary, job is a 17 minute walk to the train station; 20ish minutes on the train to High St; then 5-10 minutes to the office.

Re: The mighty Skyride, 23 August 2009

I agree, totally pointless and I'm surprised they're closing the roads for it.

And it only adds to the impression that cycling on roads is too dangerous - so in the long run could it be doing more to discourage cycling?

Re: WiFi locations in Glasgow

How does it go for getting a library card if you're not a Glasgow resident, ie East Dunbartonshire. Is a temp membership your only chance?

Re: Oddities

Passed this last week and though "oh, they're cleaning the windows tomorrow" http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2510/3769703745_6383d5c2a4.jpg Then realised that was 13 years ago! Everybody in the office seemed to agree it was there when they started, so I think it might genuinely have sat the...

Re: WiFi locations in Glasgow

There's a coffee shop next to the new Tesco on Dumbarton Road which says free wifi on the sign. I've never been in though.

Re: WiFi locations in Glasgow

Peckhams cafe on Glassford St can now be added to the list.

And I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but so does Biblocafe on Woodlands Rd.

Re: Signs 2

McEwan's Lager is back, and I actually think it tastes quite good! (Considering that it's priced alongside Tennent's & Carling at least)

I can confirm it's sold in Solid Rock & Comittee Rm No. 9. And cafe Mambo in Aviemore...

Re: Old Milngavie railway station

Interesting, I never knew there used to be an extension beyond Milngavie.

I guess it makes sense now, given that the West Highland Way path is very flat and railway-like.

Re: Formula One

I think this season has been great so far. The podiums have been full of teams outside the major ones.
