Re: Where is it Feb 2013

Sorry! :D

I've been trying to get along to that bit to take a similar picture myself, but can't be bothered in the rain and there's no pubs nearby to tempt me. Except The Lee, which is quite close, I suppose! :D

Re: Where is it Feb 2013

Old Monklands canal underpass at Castle Street/Royston Road.

It's the marks left by the old tow ropes of the barges when they were hauled by horses.

Do I win £5? :D

Re: Lost Retail Chains

I think Tandy was the "Shop Front" name of Radio Shack in the UK. I think a lot of the products were labelled Radio Shack, but I don't recall the shops being called Radio Shack. Mind you, I'm going back about 30 years, and I was only small then! :D

Re: Forgotten Pubs & Clubs in Glasgow

Out of all of those, I think only the Pewter Pot and the State will exist more or less in the form they were when these review were written! Can't speak for the Victoria Bar - don't really know the south side very well at all. Clarendon Bar burned down 9 years ago almost to the day - early hours of ...

Re: Bridge to nowhere

Three from this morning (15/1/13). Not the best quality again, I'm afraid, as they're phone camera pictures. However, you can make out the difference in height of the new fence compared to the old, particularly in the second picture. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/vinnythemackem/Glasgow/2013-...

Re: Bridge to nowhere

Probably not the best quality pictures, but a couple of the "nowhere" end from the bottom of Pitt Street this morning (14/1/13). http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/vinnythemackem/Glasgow/2013-01-14114845.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/vinnythemackem/Glasgow/2013-01-14114854.j...

Re: Am I the only one?

There's still probably a duty of the cyclist to avoid, but it's a measure of degree. If the pedestrian is yards ahead and avoidable, then they should be avoided, but if they're stupid enough to jump in front of a moving cycle without giving the cyclist a chance to avoid (or to put him/herself in dan...

Re: Forgotten Pubs & Clubs in Glasgow

A mate of mine used to work in the George. I'll see if he can identify what parts of that video are inside that building.

Oh, and cracking composite, Beneld! :D

Re: Forgotten Pubs & Clubs in Glasgow

He he! I work in Washington Street, so I should have got that one! I knew it was familiar, but just could not work it out. I blame it on the building behind the pawnbrokers which is no longer there! ;)
