Re: CAMBUSLANG STONE FACE

I think I am wrong! Looking at the picture again, you can see more of the western face of Rosebank tower than would be visible from Cambuslang park. It looks more like it was taken from the direction of somewhere near Cathkin High School. Hi Botanic Squirrel, I think the quality of the picture sugg...

Re: CAMBUSLANG STONE FACE

I'm having a senior moment here but where in Cambuslang was this picture taken:? This is simple as the buildings will still be in site and the high rise on the right can only be (going westwards) Logan Court , Kyle Court, Rosebank Tower or Standford Hall but I can't seem to find this location on Goo...

Re: Let's visit West Kilbride - Saturday 4th October 2014

I am up for this too. Fully fit again after what should be the final surgery of a longstanding problem. It is such a lovely area.

Re: What are you watching?

Sat down to watch the Liverpool game earlier only for my colour blindness to make it seem as if all twenty outfield players were in the same strip and were taking part in some bizarre run towards and away from the ball dance ritual. Kind of spoils the enjoyment.

Re: Am I the only one?

FatCat, Of course I respect your opinion; and those of BT Justice and anyone else for that matter who I disagree with. There has been an element of exhibitionism in certain people but it is so easy to flick the newspaper page over, switch a tv channel, click onto another website or just ignore. This...

Re: Am I the only one?

Am I the only person sick of the ice bucket challenge? Point 1, cold water over the head is not a challenge and point 2, why are you proud of giving £3 to charity. Its not worthy of an OBE, just give money to charity (more than £3 would be a good start)without telling me how much of a struggle you ...

Re: random radio clyde old biddies - dead or alive

I still remember the jingle that went with that publicity campaign 'We're sticking to 261...Radio Clyde 261 all together now...' The tune still haunts me! Hi Delmont, Hope these help. I love that jingle too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amfrk6ivdTs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkrobbPQ9g8 and h...

Re: Stirling Castle pub

Dexter/Anyone, Apologies as I can't find out how to copy images from Google Street View. Would you remember what the name of the pubs now called Lebowski's and The Brass Monkey that sit on the opposite side of teh junction of Argyll Street and Kent Road in the late nineties? I used to drink in the L...

Re: Your most pointless subject at school was.....?

Social Dancing is the one for me. Though enjoyable in the correct context having all PE lessons replaced between the ages of twelve and fifteen to awkwardly stumble the Gay Gordon is seared into my mind. I can easily talk to a group of a couple of hundred people but still hate dancing; even though I...

Re: CAMBUSLANG STONE FACE

I've never heard anything about the stone - I just had a look at it on StreetView to refresh my memory. Must have walked past it hundreds of times on my way to school. Thanks for the Circus links. Any idea of the exact date of this visit to Cambuslang? I would have been 8, so it seems like the kind...

Re: Stirling Castle pub

When I attended a training course in Yorkhill Hospital in March I was told that it had recently shut and without any warning or notice.

Re: CAMBUSLANG STONE FACE

An interesting collection of photographs from Reg Bolton's visit to Cambuslang in 1978: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.138724732876507.35898.134540136628300&type=1 Some of the gasworks infrastructure seem to be still in situ. Furthermore the terraced houses on the north east side of H...
