Re: Sad News

So sorry to hear this.
I also enjoyed chatting with him in various threads and found him to be polite, informative and witty.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Re: Whit's fur tea?

Sounds lovely.
I'm back - yet again at Slimming World so if your Moroccan chicken which sounds tasty, can be tweaked to reduce fat then I'd like to try it.

Re: Bob HollowHorn

I am so sorry to hear the news about HH. I never met him sadly nor indeed anyone from HG on any of the outings however over the time I spent here I found him knowledgeable, helpful, natural and very funny. I asked him about his signature and he couldn't remember but I suspected it was to do with me ...

Re: Glasgow department stores

you will find Reid & Todd mentioned a few times here: http://www.glasgowhistory.com/sauchiehall-street.html Mentioned in that article too was the fact that Pettigrew and Stephens, across from Reid and Todd's, was designed by John Honeyman and John Keppie and with a cupola by Charles Rennie Mack...

Re: Glasgow department stores

can't say l have but l could work out when the company started and hopefully when in ceased trading if you want. Please do if you can. Be great if there was some sort of book or documentation about the history of the old shop. From it's goods to it's suppliers and customers over the years. It would...

Re: Glasgow department stores

My fascination and infatuation with Reid &Todds is still ongoing. Well why not? Exotic travelling accoutrements, writing desks and the lovely smell of "leather fancy goods" ( I'm safe with that comment Fossil hasn't been here for a while) If I had a travelling machine and I set it for ...

Re: Glasgow Street Characters Old and New

I would often see a woman walking along Sauchiehall St in the 1960's wearing men's clothes and smoking a cigar. Quite an unusual sight in those days. Her name was Nell Todd and related to the Todd family of the leather goods store Reid &Todd. A"Nell Todd" has a mention in Alasdair Gray...
