Yes Dugald as far as I know the aerial mines were and adaptation of the parachute assisted magnetic sea mines without the magnetic bits and just went off on contact with the ground.

G'Day possilonian, Not that tunnel that one was still in use at the time with goods trains. I was at school with Angus MacMillan who's parents ran the piggery. G'Day Possilonian, No that tunnell I Know that one and the bridge you mention as we used to cross it to get to the engine sheds and see if we could scrounge a ride on the footplate (You see what sedate life we had compared yo you lot getting kickings and such) the tunnell I'm refering to runs diagon...

Yes his name was Alec/ Alex and the timber you see on the bank in one of the photographs stretched back to the junction of Neatherton road and Spencer st where they joined over the railway bridge. I know this as every dinner time from Temple school I used to climb over them on the way home for lunch...
