Re: Subway today

Will the deeds to a building or structure not also include the foundations? If it doesn't go below that, what happens when someone mines or tunnels beneath your property and causes the foundations to fail?

Re: Holiday Snaps 2007

Thanks Alex. It certainly was an amazing sight seeing the two lochs so calm and in brilliant sunlight. I only wish we even had a fraction of the sunlight over the last few days, it has been so dark and dreary :(

Re: Holiday Snaps 2007

I had a wee break last month in Argyllshire and have at last downloaded some of the piccies. Here are a few of them: http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f384/NorthBriton/Landscapes/Sat048.jpg Loch Eck in the early morning. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f384/NorthBriton/Landscapes/Sat049a.jpg Loch ...

Re: Finart

Many thanks PK for the info. I wondered why there was no info when I tried a search on not only HG but also on the web. I suppose it helps when you spell the name correctly  It seems that the site was connected to more than just Grangemouth (and the Faslane tanks) from what I have read on the ...

Finart

When I was back home during the summer I travelled up to Arrochar on the A814. On the way I stopped at the Finart Oil Terminal on the side of Loch Long. The terminal was where the oil tankers offloaded and the oil was pumped across to Grangemouth. There were several storage tanks on the hillside aro...

It depends what you like but here are some of the places I visited a few years ago: The ancient mine up on the Great Orme near Llandudno. Conwy Castle and the Conwy estuary. Swallow Falls near Betws-y-Coed Telford's Menai Bridge and Stephenson's Britannia Bridge Caernarfon Castle Llanberis Slate Mus...

I remember it. It was written by Douglas Hurd and Andrew Osmond, the same Douglas Hurd who was the Tory MP and minister in the Thatcher government. I have my suspicions as to why it appeared when it did and why it didn't get repeated. I also remember being very disappointed when the bridge was blown...

I don't know why because I haven't been down that way for 20+ years but something reminds me of the Dumfries line south of Kilmarnock. I seem to recall sheds to the west of the line and also a military style flat roofed building at the south end of the site. Probably total pish but..........

Some way back there was a discussion on WW2 anti aircraft sites. I have now obtained some photos of the site at Geilston, Cardross (reference N9) and although not close ups, they do show that there is still something at the site. The first shot is from near the level crossing and looking towards the...

I've got the DAB on at the moment and they are playing one of my favourite singers from my younger days, Matt Monro, singing Walk Away. It wasn't just the ballads that I liked in the 60s, I liked most of the music of that era. What Matt did offer was a pleasant contrast to the the others that were o...

I've just spent the past few hours digging out a map of the Petershill Road area and scanning it in and I've just noticed that it has been ruled out. Anyway here is what I have in case anyone wants another bit checking elesewhere in the city. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f384/NorthBriton/RDS008...

I remember being woken up at around 2 or 3 am by the noise and looking out of the window and thinking how light it was for that time of the morning.

Living out of the city I also remember the number of trees that were blown down and how it was difficult to get around the area that day.
