Mines at Hartwood

There is an interesting bit of land right beside Hartwood nurses building. It covers at least an acre which is surrounded by a victorian era wrought iron fence by the looks of it. There are modern signs warning of open shafts posted around it. I've only seen it from the train though. It has a lot of...

Airsoft

Yeah! the AEG's are pricey speshully the souped up one I fancy. But getting on for £700 is a bit steep. I liked the look of the M16 I think? that was featured on that 'SAS Think Your Hard Enough' prog that was on council telly last year. It was a gas gun based on the paintball format. I noticed they...

Cross Rail

Well whatever happens Re: layout, lets hope we get it either way. The truth is, on any large scale transport project time is no enemy for those who have the final say in the matter. Whether it takes 10 or 20 years doesn't seem to matter, in fact the latter may ring true. Here's hoping that recently ...

Soft Air

Hi Steve, I've found a few sites that you may well be interested in. Old WW2 AA kinda things and going by what I've deduced from the OS maps they might be what your looking for as they are not within built up areas. I'll E-mail you off forum as they have yet to be archived by the HG people. I wouldn...

Tresspass

The watchword is discretion coupled with common sense. There are places to go & There Are Places To Go!!. Even sites with security guards on watch shouldn't put you off. I've found that by actually having a word with the bloke on duty goes a long way to getting a wee peek at what takes your fanc...

Aikenhead House

Here's a view taken at the rear. As you can see by the comprehensive fencing around the site it was a schoolboys dream come true!! ::): Not that you would catch me climbing such an inviting structure of course. Just wish I had taken pics of the interior, although the walls were stripped of thier woo...

Cross Rail

Hopefully this will be one of the major projects of the new century. Not just brushed aside for the next generation to pick up on. Transportation of people en-mass is a very recent phenomena in historical terms and if it has to remain sustainable, projects like Crossrail etc. must go ahead. PGCC

Aikenhead House, Kings Park

This was the place where it all started for me.....way back in 1983. I took the picture shown in 1986 I think?, just as the builders moved in. http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Pgcc93/Aikenhead+House+Croftfoot+Glasgow+Scotland/Aikenhead+House-01.jpg This is Aikenhead house in Kings Park on the South side of...

Stables

Hi Ping,
IIRC before they built Princes's Square etc. Circa 1985 it was an open courtyard off of Buchanan Street. Within the courtyard was a pub / diner called the 'Court Yard' or the ' Stables' or .................something!
Does anyone know any better??

Central Low Level

I'll try and pop down and take a few pics in the next week or so during my shift. Not a great deal to see since the construction of the Westergate building, but part of the old platform still remains and a few other interesting things in the vicinity that are not visible to the public. My current Di...

Central Low Level

The blue line shown in the photo depicts the wall on the East bound platform constructed during refurbishment . Behind it shows what used to be the layout. There was a lot more to the low level than today sadly. I've heard there were lugguage elevators and that there were facilities for handling liv...
