Re: Hidden Cumbernauld.

Good yin! I think a bit of ground near there has been fenced off for a while? Though the burn was flowing normally. This means the wee reservoir isn't getting fed by the burn? and this also means the Glencryan doesn't supply the Red Burn then? Interesting, a wee wander on the cards. PPM? ye there? ...

Re: Hidden Cumbernauld.

Alright I've posted a couple of nice sensible messages and now here comes the daft one, it was probably early 90s when up for a walk along by Glencryan Woods, going along the the track leading to the crossroads north of the model plane field. When I decided to jog through the old archery target fie...

Re: The Boyd stone (Boydstone road)near pollok

Oh it was there all right Indeed! Quite a mystery this. Sounds like the kind of thing that would end up in The Hunterian Museum but what would have been to your stone's disadvantage I think would have been it's sheer size. Much easier for them to just make it disappear than to find a place for it. ...

Re: The Boyd stone (Boydstone road)near pollok

I was bored last night so spent a bit of time looking at the National Library and Old Maps sites to see if there was anything marked on any old OS maps for the area but they show nothing in the way of "Standing Stones" etc. An exhaustive amount of "Googling" also reveals nothing....

Re: The Wallace Stone (Riggend)

I have a theory (and its just a theory) but at Rigend (sic) in 1864 there was a milestone marking the road from crlisle to stirling. Milestones were first used by the romans then reintroduced C1600. I know this is 300 years after Wallace, but, If there was a largish stone already in place when they...

Re: we are a third world nation

The rise of Secularism has recently been mentioned prior to the Popes visit. The dangers of this new way of thinking are all but too easy to see in todays society. We have the bigots who say no to denominational schools, we have the allowing of murder on innocent unborn babies, we have the rise in ...

Re: Let Glasgow Flourish- Coat Of Arms

Nice one HH but if you're going to quote what I said then quote it all and not just the bits that suit you (especially when it's on a different page of the thread and most folk won't bother looking back). Clever that you missed out the link to the Painted Advertising thread!!! Here's the un-e...

Re: Let Glasgow Flourish- Coat Of Arms

I don't think there's been a photo of this before, but it's been mentioned once or twice - a Glasgow coat of arms in Edinburgh: It's been done, son. Photos annol. ::): What is it with this forum? Folk can't wait to tell you that they've done it "photos annol" yonks ago. So what if you did...

Re: Hidden Cumbernauld.

To get to either from KIldrum you either came across the bridge at Braehead - because the "snake bridge" at Stuart House(?) had not yet been built - or, you came up from the south, having crossed Janes Brae(that the right one?) at Kildrum Parish church. Does anyone still refer to it as th...

Re: Digital Camera Equipment. THE Help and discussion thread.

I have a Sony A330 DLSR, which might be at the bottom end of the SLR market but is fantastic for my requirements. Only problem I have is that when using the "live view" mode the screen image quality is not great? Once the picture has been taken the image on the screen is perfect.....It ju...
