Re: Glasgow Traffic Wardens

From what my daughter told me, there was only one side giving out abuse, and that was the 'Parking Attendants'. Fair enough nobody working with or for the public should be going about giving out abuse to people. Having worked in retail for 6 odd years I've seen people who occasionally 'snapped' out...

Re: Glasgow Traffic Wardens

Can I be pedantic? Glasgow does not have traffic wardens any more, but parking attendants. It is a bit different legally, but the public I guess it looks the same. Traffic Wardens are police employees and have a lot more powers in the criminal system- so courts etc, whereas parking attendants are co...

Re: St Enoch Station (Not Subway)

Certainly given the lack of capacity in Central, which was part of the reason for the demolition of 11a and car park for the new platforms for GARL, there could be a case, in a crossrail (like that will ever happen!) system to have certain trains terminating at this location. A new St Enoch could ha...

Re: I got a parking ticket and I don't want to pay

I think decriminalising parking was a bad step- much simpler and more just process that if you didn't agree with the ticket you got, you could not pay the fine and have your day in the District Court. Be very careful on the 'lines with no T bars'. This has been branded about by the media and actuall...

Re: Parking Ticket ... any ideas?

Minerva Way does have a traffic regulation order on it and I'm sure it is metered and permits. If you go to Minerva Street (or West Greenhill Place) the entry to the scheme, you should see a sign with the clearway sign (red circle with strikethrough on blue background) and the words 'Restricted Park...

Re: Post Boxes

Is it true that there are no EIIR boxes in Scotland as the SNLA were blowing them up as she was not the second Elizabeth up here. I heard they were replaced with boxes with just a crown on it. Does anyone know if this is true or is it just an urban myth. Cheers Partly true, the first bit I never he...

Re: Buses Today

There was a letter in the Herlad today comparing the cost of buses in Glasgow with those in Edinburgh. I don't think I have ever used a bus in Edinburgh but would be interested if the disparity is really that great and, if so, why. The disparity is there, and exists because Lothian are a municipal ...

Re:

Sounds like an argument for a second thread - the virtues of public buses or restoring the trams to the city centre.... I'd hate to live in most parts of the City Centre, my cousin does and doesn't like it despite the 'handyness' of things. Never mind trams- stick up wires and run trolleybuses. Als...

Re: Bing! (West Lothian)

The maps of Tarbrax are interesting. I passed through and noticed that the streams are still fairly heavily polluted and there definitely seems to be a lot of work in the area at one time. Is there a landfill out near Woolfords now or in that area?

Hulme Bridge in Manchester. Thought it was remarkably similar to the Squinty Bridge.

Re: Double Yellow - Double Standards???

For what it's worth, I'm afraid they are legal.

There are no stripes on the kerb indicating loading is prohibited and as they are loading newspapers into the van, they will be allowed to stop there.

Re: Silverburn and Pollok Civic Realm

i keep hearing 'rumours' abbot the big peice of land across from silverburn (the old cowglen hospital) is being developed with big retail units and a cinema. There does appear to be a fair bit of digging going on over there.. I'd heard houses for the site, although retail was possible. Cinema is a ...

Re: Auld Glesga Trams & Buses

The two car crash is one that IIRC happened on a shortcut between Newlands Depot and Shawlands, I believe it was running between what is now Morrisons up past Newlandsfield Park, although could equally be along Riverford Road! it was an unusual single track bit and they ran into each other, which se...

Re: Silverburn and Pollok Civic Realm

As it has become obvious to Tesco, and anyone else who looks.....the disabled areas outside their entrance are being abused, the location of 'other disabled zones' should be reviewed as a matter or urgency....AND NOTICES SHOULD BE EASIER READ FROM THE MOTORWAY ENTRANCES. Teething problems aside, mu...

Re: Silverburn and Pollok Civic Realm

Found some more information on a motoring legal site about it. Looks like the person who told me was right. £70 fine too well more than any police or council offence.

See here and here
