Re: Freebay

A map of Sutherland and Caithness was distributed in my direction by Josef, pending my imminent removal to Gairloch. I also received a book of walks in the Gairloch area. Thank you Josef and Grahame and LeTigre Boy :D

Lavatorial Street Furniture

I thought it was time we had a thread dedicated to toilets. Hopefully that is OK with the moderators. To start with, here is a link to a wonderful website of Victorian and Edwardian street urinals, many of which made in Glasgow. Are any of these still in evidence in Glasgow itself? They resemble the...

Re: One for the railway heads

Question. I am going to look out for this excursion on Thurs http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t13/t0425a.htm . Just deciding whether to go to Ladybank or Glenrothes. What does Thornton TC stand for? I see the train splits there. Sharon, thanks for that post. A very interesting read.

After prodding them twice over the lack of response to my query, I eventually got told that the half-price off-peak returns for members of the Advance loyalty scheme would be extended to the end of May. Sort-of result, I guess!

Splendid! I think I will take advantage of that :)

Re: One for the railway heads

Cell - if I had been a foot taller, I would have had a better chance. I could only see the first line of it :) Gap, I slept dreadfully on the way home, but put it down to the fact that I needed to jump off the train at 5.30am in Leuchars. I could have relied on the steward though. She was great, and...

Re: Using filters

I often struggled with lack of of light in this country, when using mine. Seems to have a strange effect on the auto focus too. You have inspired me to try again.

Re: Thatcher is dead.

As a previous poster said, she was not a dictator. Her government was repeatedly elected to run the country. The fact that the only woman around the table is targetted with all of the wrath for the policies of that government has a whiff of misogyny from where I am standing. As for those who seem to...

Re: Sunday 7 April: Possil Loch and Seewoo

Indeed. I didn't even manage to finish mine, a rare event indeed. And here, Monument, you missed yourself - we had a walker doing a PhD on Til Schweiger films. Well, sort of. OK, where did you go to eat? Til Schweiger :P What a great research topic! Josef, two walks in two days - full marks. Guacho...
