i think looking at the photo that the person taking the picture was standing on crow road at the junction with thornwood. Stupart's the hairdressers, would be just out of shot i think.
now i dont want to start arguements or stir the proverbial ....but in relation to another discussion ....is that art or graffiti ..... it ticks all the boxes of both i think.
its the same old problem ... people always complain that there is nothing for them to do (guess im mainly taking about the youth here).... yet when they find something they car express a creative side with we stamp on it ...they are artists we should help them express their artistic voice. no wonder...
Dont have a problem with graffiti so long as its fairly artistic ...(oh that sounds old now doesnt it) ... :( remember there was a cool bit behind hillhead library that then got a bit ruined. in previous job incarnations i suggested tolerance zones along the canal towpaths and cycle paths so long as...
the movie represents the sad fact that people are wiling to believe a piece of nonsense like that rather than read a book, or try to discover for themselves....... even worse they used it for an excuse to hate others.
whats all this outdoor cafe nonsense ....have you ever sat on a hill and watched the layer of pollution hovering above glasgow ...... well i can only imagine that george sq being the so called heart of the city is the worst for it...... lead poisoning with your coffee sir mmmmmm
Just remembered that there are allotments down on that side of the railway lines ...may be possible to find eveidence of the station in amongst them .......failing that southbrae drive is pretty high above the showground and may give a good view ...although the houses are on the lower level too and ...
i assume that the showground is now scotstoun showground track and sports thingy ...... used to use that line regularly but dont remember seeing any signs of a platform ...may have to go and have a look
maybe there should be a clean up or an encouragement for the council who are responsible for its upkeep (east dumbartonshire i think) to do something for the anniversary .......
would be a nice gesture ....or how about a statue of mel gibsonlike in stirling........
the monument at robroyston ...is where wallace was captured .... and could do with a bit of care....its a shame that such an important site will soon be in the middle of a housing estate.
there was a rock type club thingy near the cathouse for a while just the other side of road under the kingston bridge ...think it may have been called power station or something just as aweful
new to site and it good to see so many people interested in glasgows history
