Re: Visit of the Pope to Glasgow June 1982

Very illuminating this. Seems that offending 19% of the population is not only fair game, but allowable. Disappointing.

Re: Parking Charges

Can the Scottish Government maybe explain that innocuous bit about ...fund rising parking enforcement costs...

Am I being dense here, or does that really suggest that the cost of currently enforcing a parking ticket is getting on for £60? It that's the case, I'm shocked. And stunned.

Re: Computer Problems.

Howdy, Like a right diddy I plugged a USB card reader into my laptop during start up. Normally this wouldn't be much of a problem. But the card reader was new hardware. And the USB drive is first, for some reason, on start up priority. Anyhoo, I ended up with the famous BSOD and unmountable_boot_vol...

Re: Pollokshaws Demolition

The car parks in the auldhouse retail park may be crowded come Sunday lunchtime. Not a bad view but maybe too close.

I've never actually seen a multi come tumbling down but I may make an exception for this. Although 12.30 is pretty early Sunday for me!

Re: Lockerbie Remembered

Howdy, I'm surprised it took so long to let him go, Mr. MacCaskill seems to want the prisons emptied as a matter of policy. But listening to him spouting crap about Megrahi "facing a higher power" makes me wonder if our justice system is the new religion. Who needs God when politicians can...

Re: Boom & Bust

Howdy, The government borrowed £8 billion last..... month. To put that into perspective, that's £2 billion a week - which is even more than easyjet turned over last year. It's not all doom and gloom though. The Zimbabwean dollar rose 15% against the pound. Which means that the financial markets have...

Re: Better Homes, better Lives with GHA

Howdy,

Will this not-for-profit organisation hand her successor £180,000 a year?

Re: What Are You Currently Reading

Cliff Richard's autobiography - £3 in Tesco. Can't go wrong with that, I thought, the memoirs of a man in at the start of British rock 'n' roll; what tales he'll have of Soho, the beat boom, bohemians and Melvyn Hayes. How wrong I was. It's truly terrible. And I'm a bit of a fan.

Re: The 'Homers' Network!

Howdy Bridie, An electric guitar needs an amp so it may be cheaper to get a starter pack that has a guitar and all the trimmings. Most of the major brands, Fender, Yamaha, er, Encore, supply them. I got my daughter a Squier Strat a few years back and I must admit that I was surprised at the quality ...

Re: Rare Plane at Glasgow Airport

Howdy Brigit, Hope you are well, comfy and generally taking things easy. The plane's actually a Yak 42 - so I was wrong on 4 counts. But it is Moscow Dynamo's charter. Here's a link to pics of the very thing. http://www.planepictures.net/netsearch4.cgi?srch=RA-42365&srng=2&stype=reg There's ...

Rare Plane at Glasgow Airport

Passed the airport today and saw what I took to be a Lockheed Tristar on the apron. There's only about a dozen flying now and, as usual, I didn't have a camera to hand. However, I've a feeling that the plane is actual Moscow Dynamo's charter flight so it may actually be the Russian Tristar copy, whi...
