Re: Mysterious Network Rail building

thats the old central station signal box, made redundant a few years back with everything going to cowlairs. it used to control the paisley lines as far as cardonald, wcml as far as polmadie, paisley canal branch as well as central high level itself

Re: One for the railway heads

I do remember the apprentices did a retrofit on one of them to the original blue livery and comfortable interior. It lay parked at the depot on the way to Paisley Canal for years but I think it was vandalised and never used for commuters. SPTE had taken over by then. God I hated the orange colour o...

Re: the fairground folk of the east end of glasgow

exactly this thread has been most interesting, you forget about the travelling fair folk, can remember there was a yard in saltcoats that the fairground folk used when the shows were there. what interests me is more the rigs themselves as there is some stonking trucks and living vans, being a bit of...

Re: One for the railway heads

err jim you are confused, slagging off both tractors and then spoons by calling then d**s. any 12cylinder has to be a type 4, evil empire just made V-forms because their lumps werent tough enough and I know what engine I'd rather work on, sulzer is easy, 2 valves per head, EE are 4 valves. plus a 6l...

Re: One for the railway heads

Sulzer over evil empire anytime. okay you have to rate 12svt's as they are part of scotland's history but a 6LDA with load 6 and a semi dead spoon on the rear is only going to mean 1 thing.... thrash of the hellfire variety :D :D :D looking forward to having 038, a proper brummie sulzer but 27001 i...
