Re: St Peters No.1

Great pictures there :) I took another trip out there last weekend and found the metal door sealing the crypt area had been ripped off. Ventured in with headtorch and got a few photos, I'll post a couple. It was absolutely freezing inside and pitch black, really creepy! After a couple of hours wande...

Re: St Peters No.1

I did try to get into the crypt, the sealed area beneath the seating area of what was once the Chapel, but that bloody steel plate was too well attached. I'm sure it'll get opened at some point. I can tell you, however, that the crypt once housed the mortal remains of an Archbishop for several year...

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

I can't see it being too long now - perhaps late summer/autumn. From what I understand all three blocks are scheduled for demolition at the same time. The final block (Huntingdon Square) was finally emptied a couple of weeks ago and they haven't wasted any time in getting to work. Photos taken from ...

Re: Sighthill

Well the block at Huntingdon Square has finally been emptied - there are metal doors on the entrances now and they've started working on it already - there were workies in there about 7am this morning. I wonder what they're going to do with the land on the Fountainwell side of Sighthill when everyth...

Re: Sighthill

Has anyone heard when the remaining Fountainwell blocks will be coming down? It was originally scheduled for Jan 09 but the block overlooking Huntingdon Square still has some occupants so I would imagine it won't be for a good few months at the earliest.

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

Hmm.. how many are coming down at once, does anybody know? I read somewhere that there were another five to be demolished at the beginning of next year, and I think the block pictured above was originally scheduled for January.

Springburn Town Hall

If there's a thread on this already then I apologise but I did a search and didnae find anything. Walking home from my parents' house today I passed the old Springburn Town Hall. I noticed there are some signs up directing construction traffic, and I'm wondering if the building is being rennovated? ...

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

According to today's Evening TImes, the other flats adjacent to Fountainwell Place, which are Fountainwell Avenue and Terrace, will be razed next year. Huntingdon Square, behind the shops, will also be razed, but at an unconfirmed date. The Red Road will take around [b]7 years to bring down, due th...

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

The planning and preparation that goes into each demolition must be immense. I wonder how much it all costs and who is involved other than the actual demolition company. I would imagine Scottish Power, Scottish Water and the Electricity Board would have to do work before the flats are brought down.

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

Is there anybody else around the Sighthill area without water? My whole block has been without since early this afternoon. According to a neighbour the water board are currently working on it. I wonder if it's anything to do with the demolition. :?
