Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

No idea, but I wonder how long it'll take them to clear up all the rubble.

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

Loads of crew standing about in the square having their snacks and coffee. One crew member throwing his guts up.. not much of an advert for the snack van ::): I'm not sure why, but the flats across from the square are floodlit. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m170/Katherine73_2006/P7120004.jpg

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

Just had a look out from my laundry room area and I can see part of the square. Going to take a walk down there now with camera.

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

Do you mean the grassy bit behind Haggertys Garage? I was down earlier in the afternoon and there was fencing there, and also a cordon at 37&49 on Fountainwell Place Path .. kinda close, so i think it'll get moved :). Nope, I think we're thinking of different bits. The one I'm thinking of is at...

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

Just had a look out the window and all looks dark from here. I think we'll start heading down there about 1am. How busy do you guys think it'll be?

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

I think I'll head down about 1am to see if I can find this. Not originally from the area so I'll need to find this spraypainted bit. If you walk down towards Keppochhill Road, over the small railway bridge - it's just across the main road and to the left. Just a large grassy area. When I went down ...

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

That Kwik-Save has been lying empty for years. I wonder if they're ever going to do anything with it. Maybe the shops will eventually be earmarked for demolition once they start with the regeneration, but I'm sure I saw a To Let sign on it a while back.

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

Nic R - you should take a walk down to Keppochill Road and watch it from there. I think it'll be busy. I walked over this morning and they've spraypainted the grass there. One area is for the press but there's plenty of room for the public.

We're going down with the video camera. :D

Re: Buchanan Galleries Extension Proposal

Maybe they'll add more clothes shops to the Galleries when the expansion takes place. Cause we really need more clothes shops in there

Re: Sighthill - Fountainwell Place Demolition

I've just been down and spoken to the demolition people, and the flats are to be blown up at 2.30am on the dot. A good viewing place is the grassy area behind the flats at Keppochill Road - there will be barriers up but that part is open to the press and the public.
