A tower in Royston Road, single track railway and a dookit

I remember a lone tower near Royston Road when I lived in Glasgow over 25 years ago. It is no longer there. Does anyone remember this? It was just off Royston Road near Provan gasworks. In the picture below (taken in 2001) it would have been just off to the left, if it still existed. It resembled on...

Provan gasworks

Can anyone tell me if the Provan gasworks still exist? Has anyone given the area a visit with a camera (I live on the south coast of england, a bit too far away for me to do this)? On a visit to glasgow a few years ago I took this photo. The sign is on the wall just by the entrance of an old road on...

Thanks James, thought I was havering a bit with the old memory. :) Does anyone know anything about the grass at the Royston Road side of the gasworks. I remember standing there and seeing what looked like the remains of entrance walls to houses. Not been down that way for years though so it might b...

Digital Camera Equipment. THE Help and discussion thread.

Iam looking for a digital camera and would rather take a recommendation than 'advice' from well meaning websites/shops out to sell me a camera. My requirements? SLR - without bells and whistles. as long as it has aperture/shutter speed settings, flash attachment and interchangeable lenses and basic ...

Hi, Slightly off topic but related. Can anyone tell me why, all over Glasgow, ther are pubs, just pubs, on street corners. It's obvious they used to be part of a tenement but when they knocked the tenement down (and everything else for hundreds of yards around), they left the pub, why? David. An ex...

Germiston/Garngad tunnels, tardis, tower, quarry

Hello my first post here. I grew up in Germiston/Garngad over 25 years ago, now in England. I noticed obvious changes in recent visits. More curious about what was there rather than what is 'hidden' I heard the gasworks are to be no more? Is this worthy of investigation/taking photographic records? ...
