Re: Westfield bunker

Hi Teamsno

I'm glad someone remembers it, was actually begining to wonder if i'd made it up as some kind of childhood fanciful notion!

Oh god, don't mention a hatch - having just consumed 5 series of 'Lost' over the last few months, the mention of a hatch sets my mind racing 8O

Re: unusual building at Castle Street just round from Royston Ro

Noticed today that the front of the building (including the entrance) has been completely 'boarded over' - i wondered why, if it appeared to serve no purpose anymore, had it not been demolished? Google (street) map link shows the location, for those unfamiliar with the area, but the view doesn't sho...

Re: Tunnel at former Wills factory

Hi Steve Having had the benefit of reviewing your extensive post on the (route of) Molendinar Burn - which was kick-started by Ben Coopers cracking photographs - i can now see my friends neighbour was a bit mis-guided in her assertion. I'll not bother to correct her though as she revels in the thoug...

Re: Westfield bunker

Hi AcidC4 Yes thanks, it does help :D Your explanation ties in exactly with what i've pieced together since my original post; including the use of the 'Irish diggers' as a means to minimise local knowledge of the existence of the bunker/underground shelter. I do remember the floor - from my time as ...

Re: tunnels

Hi folks I was driving along Darnick Street (near Royston Road) the other night when i noticed the old railway tunnel being dug out. I wonder why? I assumed it was to check the integrity of the tunnel roof, as that stretch of road can be pretty busy with traffic. Any thoughts? http://file049b.bebo.c...

Re: ABANDONED & DISUSED RAILWAYS: Buchanan St. Tunnel

I dunno why folk would be cagey about this particular entrance, it's hardly sensitive information. A quick search of this site or indeed googling the tunnel in question will lead you to here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=Argyle+St,+Glasgow,+Lanarkshire+G3,+United+...

Re: Project: The Great Eastern

Just another couple of shots from behind The Great Eastern Hotel (2 May 2009): http://s124594918.websitehome.co.uk/BehindTheGreatEastern.jpg If you look at the far right-hand side of the building you'll notice that that entire side wall has been removed. http://s124594918.websitehome.co.uk/RetainerW...

Re:

Hi, ... Also at the junction of Castle St and Baird St/ Royston Rd, just a couple of feet into Castle St, you go over a small bridge with the pedestrian walkway underneath. That bridge is, apparently, the original Monklands Canal bridge from a hundred or so years ago. David. http://maps.live.com/de...

Subway damage halts motorway work

Saw this story on the bbc site earlier today: Work on a section of the M74 extension will not restart until engineers are satisfied there will be no damage to Glasgow's subway system. Piling work is suspected to have caused cracks in some subway tunnels last week - disrupting the network. Subway ope...

Re: Molendinar Burn

just another view on google maps of the Molendinar Burn as it visibly passes through Riddrie Cemetary (Provanmill) before passing under what used to be B&Q at Hogganfield, under Cumbernauld Road and connecting with Hogganfield Loch. http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=55.877676,-4.1...
