Re: Red Road demolition 10th June

I'm reading this and video of the demolition has just appeared on on my local television news ! An amazing coincidence but one which, once again, reminds me of my ties with the Glasgow I left, as a ten year old, in December 1960. Thank you, HG, for allowing me to keep in contact with my roots ! Re: Am I the only one?

They're mostly Yuppies, Dot, and the Yuppy desire is to be seen doing something out of the ordinary !

They don't care about the dog or the bub in the pram !

Re: Worst Accents in Film/TV and the Ones That Don't Give a

Worst ever accent ?

Meryl Streep's Americanised Aussie accent in 'Azaria' with the statement:

"The dingo's got my baby !"

Re: Would Ye!

The weather lady is definitely showing that there is a developing low front but, while I accept that you don't often look at the mantelpiece while stoking the fire, I think a paper bag might be in order, there !

Re: Antiques warehouse fire

Great pics, Robert !

Such a pity that all of those beautiful things were destroyed, but has anyone been charged with setting the fire or has any reason actually been given for the cause of the fire ?

Re: Shopping Arcades

From memory, Woolworths' in Renfrew Street would pretty well have been straight across the road from the Camp Bar. There was a bus stop right outside it, serving both Corpy and Alexanders Buses as we used to often catch the Corpy 20 or Alexander's 105 from there to 'theDrum' ! I seem to remember tha...

Re: Drumchapel

Robert Poole, For some reason, I completely lost contact with this topic. Perhaps I didn't look closely enough before my last reply to kristymaclaren but your pictures of the demolition of Invercanny Drive, showing what remains of the other side of Airgold Drive from where I lived, I missed complete...

Re: A wee joke

I'll try this one here !

It was sent to me by a friend who now lives in Canada but who used to live across the street from me in Airgold Drive in theDrum in the late 1950's.

If it works, I hope you laugh as much as I did !

Re: random question

Dot, I still have a wee Olivetti typewriter bought in 1968 when I first went off to Teachers' College. It still works (when I can scab a new ribbon) and I take it to school at least once each year to show my new class what we had to use after hand writing of letters passed on and before computers wi...
