Re: London Road is falling down

I wouldn't be surprised. It nearly happened in the block I live in when a restaurant was being renovated. Fortunately someone realised and the police were called. There were workmen there all night putting in emergency supports. Fortunately nobody needed to be evacuated. Such a shame this block wasn...

Re: Old Sauchiehall Centre Pictures?

I only vaguely remember the Arnotts being there then when it closed it was done up. The basement level was the food court and yes, I think Argos opened off it. That was before TK Maxx. I think it was just the upstairs of John Menzies that opened into the centre and the ground floor to the street as ...

Re: Jacobean Corsetry

Thanks for the links Robert. What a treasure trove you have there. Yeah dazzababes, you're probably right. I wouldn't know where to start though given it's 11 years since they shut and it's not exactly an uncommon name. I'll do some more looking about. There aren't even many older underwear shops le...

Re: 'Time machine' pubs

It's just a shame the Old Toll Bar lost all it's etched glass windows after an old firm game a few years ago. Every single one smashed. They replaced with plain glass so it spoiled it quite a bit. Sure about that? I'll have to check next time I pass, but it's not my recollection. There was a bit of...

Jacobean Corsetry

Not sure if this is the right place to ask :/ but does anyone have any info or pics or could anyone point me in the general direction of any info or pics on the old Jacobean Corsetry business in Virginia Street? I've hunted, and hunted and apart from some articles on it closing down and many, many p...

Re: New double yellow lines!

Thank you Josef, exactly. As it was 1am when I wrote my previous post shall I rephrase in more length; They'll create more problems than they solve. But, if a kid gets knocked down because a car is flying up to make the lights, then of course it will have been 100% the responsibility of the driver t...

Re: New double yellow lines!

It might seem that way. But the few cars going along there have no choice but to go slowly at the moment in case there's someone coming the other way. Clear the parked cars and they'll put the foot down.

Re: New double yellow lines!

From enquiries it seems the owners of the land (it is still a private road seemingly) have requested the lines. They claim there was signs up about it last summer... invisible ones clearly. The lines aren't down yet, just the no loading signs. I don't think there's much to be done. They'll create mo...

Re: Best Curry House

I want to put a word in on this thread for the Viceroy on Paisley Road. We don't tend to sit in as it's close to home, but we do go to them a lot. I worry about them as they''re awfy quiet. But they're good, and incredibly friendly. It's only been open about a year (I think they have restaurants els...

The Merchant's Quay is tolerable. It's the only one I've been in more than once, if at all.
