Re: Exploring old Butlins sites...

I remember that I collected tokens from a comic (I think it was The Eagle) that allowed a free day family pass to Butlins Ayr back in the sixties. I spent most of my time in the outdoor pool.

Re: Lost Comic Shops of Glasgow.

It was certainly in that area, I seem to remember it being about half way between the cross and the shipbuilding shed. Sorry, I know that doesn't help much.

Re: Govan Lyceum Regeneration

I grew up in Govan and used to go to the Lyceum, The Plaza, The Mosspark and The Lorne on a regular basis. My main memory of the Lyceum was of queuing up and being terrorized by a guy in a red uniform coat whom we called Bugsy who checked to see we didn't have any frozen missiles (orange juice trian...

Re: Apollo - Greens Playhouse

Sensitive rock fans Don't you just love them, it's the contributors fault never the arseholes who claim full copyright on the contributions they've been given and then give them to Martin Keilty for publication without crediting the original authors. Well I sent in a bunch of scans of tickets that ...

Re: Glasgow’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Anyone remember Rubber Yahoo? Do they qualify for the Glasgow’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? I saw them a couple of times, thought they were great, I had the Sharks single but then they seemed to disappear and I’m not sure if they released anything else. Can’t remember this track “Where are we now?”...

Re: Lost record shops of Glasgow

Think it was me who mentioned Southside records. Been in a few times recently and as you say there's little there of interest at a decent price. Spent a while two weeks back and after a while the assistant told me everything was half price for the next 30 minutes. Still didn't find anything worth bu...

Re: Citizens Theatre

I remember going to see Mac Beth in the seventies with a naked coven of witches. It was a school endorsed trip which made it a bit awkward for the teacher as we were taught by Marist brothers.
