Re: Hiking near Glasgow?

Gleniffer Braes just outside Paisley is a great walking area with fabulous views over the city and to the hills beyond. I usually go by car but there are buses from the centre of Paisley.

Re: Bob Dylan at Glasgow Odeon in May 66 (share your memories)

I was there in '66 being crazy about Dylan at that time. Don't remember an awful lot about it but the 1st half was him on his own with his guitar playing the older stuff. After the interval he came on with his band and the electric guitars etc and all the heckling started. I was up in the balcony an...

Re: Researching local history course, starts 14 January

Thanks Ronnie - I'll pop in tomorrow morning and see what the situation is. I'd tried to enrol last time but left it too late and it had been cancelled. I didn't know it was being repeated until I came across this thread. I'm booked on another course at DACE that clashes, but I would swap if the loc...

Re: Pollok Park site for "Go Ape" centre.... just say NO!!

Seems a bit of a farce havng it "referred" in the first place, just to have it rubber-stamped. Especially when the application in question clearly contravenes a number of "material planning considerations", not to mention the objections on legal grounds. It's not over yet, by a l...

Re: Pollok Parks loss will be Rouken Glens gain.

So, what you're saying is that parents who don't want their children "moaning" about Go Ape should just avoid walking in North Wood No, thats not what I am saying. It looks to me that a substantial part of the North Wood would be unaffected. The plans on the save Pollok Park website say 3...

Re: Pollok Parks loss will be Rouken Glens gain.

I went for a wee waddle through Pollok Park today and it was heaving with families and I thought. Will these parents take their kids to the P.P. only to get constanly harassed with the weans wanting a shot on the swings, or are they just going to go to the Rookie instead? I reckon the latter! So as...

Re: Ask Alex

In fact I was at a loss as to what grounds the objectors representatives where putting forward. They stated that one of the main concerns was the noise generated which they believe will have an impact on how others enjoy the use of the park. Yet the also stated that they were not opposed to Go-Ape ...

Re: Ask Alex

I presume those comments are aimed at me ?? It is the first time that I have posted on this thread and I would not have asked my question if Alex had not already indicated that he was willing to discuss the application, following it being considered by the planning committee. Neither have I asked hi...

Re: Ask Alex

As a member of the Planning Committee it is difficult for me to become involved in discussion about an application prior to it going before the committee. I am not trying to avoid the question and would be happy to discuss it following the application being considered by the Committee. Would you li...

Re: Pollok Park site for "Go Ape" centre.... just say NO!!

This decision can still be overturned as it has to go to Holyrood as the council are beneficiaries from the development. So its now time to lobby your SNP MSPs to get this thrown out. Ministers will only be considering it from a planning point of view, though they could still overturn it. The best ...
