What happened to the Gothic style building accross from High St station? Shouldn't that be visible in that picture? It was a fruit shop in the early nineties, but cannae believe it wisnae something grander in earlier times.

The transport arrangements are brilliant.

One minute frequency for the trams and 3 minutes for the underground. Not to mention mainline routes, carparks for 10000 cars (were there that many cars in Glasgow in 1938?) and connections from all over the UK.

Not quite. He picked a specific map from the past and tried to follow it today. This week was an English bike map of the lake district from 1903. Not a bad programme, but I would have preferred to see him attack the route with a modern bike. That way it becomes a useful guide to the modern route as ...

I'm no fan of emymology but the early version of the name 'myl' refers to a wauk mill built by the Bishop of Glasgow on the banks of the Clyde. It of course retians this reference in its present form - 'myle'. It aint gaelic thats for sure - most of the names along this stretch of the Clyde are Bry...

I remember some of the stuff in the new Science Centre was also in the South Rotunda for a few years after the Garden Festival. The whispering satellite dish things for one. So I guess the South Rotunda was abandoned some time in the early nineties.
