Re: Average/Bad Restaurants

Just to say that I went back to The Left Bank the other week and found it to be as good as ever. I had my old stalwart of the burger and it was most enjoyable.

Re: Average/Bad Restaurants

I hope it was an isolated aberration - I've really enjoyed The Left Bank the couple of times I've been there and it would be a real shame if it were to have gone down the pan.

Re: A Few Pics of LateNight Anniesland

I lived just down the road (Crow Road, that is), for over three years and never knew what that building was or bothered to find out. Ah well. In keeping with the thread, here's some night time shots of the Anniesland Tower that I took back in April 2007. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1145/909624588...

Re: Glasgow Doors Open Days 20th and 21st September 2008.

Any particular recommendations of what to check out, from previous years or personal experience? The number of places is quite daunting and it's hard to know what to try and see.

Re: OED at Glasgow libraries

I'm afraid I haven't made any headway on this. I'll maybe phone the Mitchell this week and see if they can at least suggest who might be good to contact.

Re: File hosting

I've largely switched from flickr to Zenfolio now, mainly because I think that Zenfolio is a lot more professional looking, and because there's more control over how your site looks, rather than being tied to the chronological display as on flickr. It doesn't have the same community aspects however....

OED at Glasgow libraries

I was browsing the Oxford English Dictionary website and noticed that there's been some kind of agreement/scheme set up where libraries can subscribe to allow their library users to gain access to the OED and related resources online using their library membership (see here: http://www.oed.com/servi...

Minor Injuries

Are there any walk-in minor injuries clinics in Glasgow? I'm especially hoping that there'll be something at the Royal Infirmary as I live over in Dennistoun/Haghill. After being involved in a minor altercation with a car while cycling home from work a couple of weeks ago, I've been having quite a b...

Re: In the bin Please

As I was locking up at work last week I was incredibly angered and frustrated to see a policeman idly throw a 2 litre cider bottle into the gutter once he had emptied it down the drain after confiscating it from some kids just up the road. There were rubbish bins literally 6 feet away from him, but ...

Re: Freebay

As predicted, the east end curbside recyclers were my saviour. I left the CD racks out there at about 9:30am this Sunday morning on my way out for a swim and they were gone by the time I returned at 11am. Problem solved. The poor council bulk uplift folks on Monday morning never even stood a chance.

Re: Good Restaurants

I've been to The Left Bank on Gibson Street, just down from the university, a couple of times in the last few months and it was excellent both times. I recommend the burger and the so-called "super salad" in particular, the latter being a truly mammoth dish filled with all kinds of excitin...

Re: How young are you.

I used to think that I was young, but I'm not convinced any more. I'm definitely not very grown-up though.

Re: Freebay

I have a couple of CD racks going spare if anyone wants them. They're a matching pair of a wooden slotted type on metal bases. They are double sided, with 60 slots on each side, so could hold up to 120 CDs each. I'm in the east end and evening collection is pretty much the only convenient time for m...
