Hi Hound Dog,

Is the book you are referring to 'The Book of Glasgow Murders'? If so, I am the author.

Re: Mortuary on Sauchiehall St

If memory serves me right, Wylie & Lochhead Undertakers used to have premises just round the corner in Pitt Street and before the lane that runs at the back of Sauchiehall Street. It is feasible that their premises, including chapel of rest at the front of the shop, ran quite a way back into the...

In that same confession, Manuel is said to have admitted to the killing in June 1956 of Ellen Petrie in West George St Lane. She was a part tim...

Re: What Are You Currently Reading

'The Monster of Florence' by Robert Preston. Italy's true crime answer to Jack the Ripper but it is up to date. So far, it's a cracking story.

Re: Number plate or speed camera?

ANPR - Automatic Number Plate Recognition. I'm surprised you didn't spot a marked polis motor further along the road, the idea being is a vehicle triggers the ANPR, details are passed to the police car, who in turn, stops the offending vehicle. Perhaps it was out of sight already dealing with someon...

Re: Duke Street Prison

Chuppazee My information is that the executed individuals were buried in the ground adjacent to the north west wall of the prison. There were not moved in later years because there was nothing to move. All executed bodies were placed in extra wide coffins that had between 1 and 3 inches of lime chal...
