amcmillan wrote:Does anyone know for sure what time they are planning to demolish the flats tomorrow?
The large rumbling boom which woke me up this morning suggests that it was about 9.50am.

Apparently Greggs gets progressively less greasy the further south you get. In a Glasgow Greggs, if you buy a sausage roll, by the time you get it back to the office, the paper bag will be pretty much transparent, but here in London, it still stays resasonably papery. Oh, and they have napkins. Prin...

Really? I'd heard that the uni's John McIntyre building had A-listed stained glass windows, but the rest was B-listed.

Google currently don't have a huge amount of hi-res photos for the UK, but some places are covered - including just to the south-west of Glasgow. If you take a look at http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ll=55.926125,-3.655701&spn=.722167,2.429214&t=k&hl=en then you can see the hi-res areas as...

I can "exclusively" confirm that fact. Keep an eye out for the Scottish Brewing Archives' open day - I think it's in November - where you can get a tour around the archives, a talk from someone from CAMRA, and - more importantly - free beer.

One a charity cycle ride from Glasgow to Loch Lomond a few years ago, we all had number tags pinned to us. While cycling along the old rail line through Whiteinch, I heard this gem:
"number wan oh five six? there's fuckin' hunners of em!"

They've recently added a bit of satellite imagery for the UK. The hi-res stuff is fairly sparse, but does include Paisley. The hi-res bits are the slightly-different coloured boxes at http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ll=55.997314,-3.933105&spn=1.524353,2.477417&t=k&hl=en There's also a plan...

Sorry, I'd got a wee bit distracted by pesky exams. These are the two I got on my camera before the battery died, got a few more rubbish ones on my phone. Apparently the head is to be mounted in the Huntarian. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v214/nonstick/IMG_1252.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/al...

Gone. Chopped to bits and taken, presumably, to the dump, early this morning. I got a few photos, then my camera's battery ran out. Then my flatmate turned up with his camera, and its battery ran out pretty quickly too. News of the World snapper was there for a bit too. If there's anything decent on...

They've normally worked fine for me - but I have occasionally got a wee bit of a fright when picking up tickets a few days in advance: when printing, the display can only cope with "Date of travel: Today" or "Tomorrow". There was one occasion when the machine had no record of my tickets, which was r...

DAB uses relatively long wavelength HF as the carrier, basically a smart version of medium wave radio, so tunnels and the like don't cause the same loss of signal which VHF FM suffers. It also uses a rather clever technology, whose name has totally escapes me, which can get signals from two differe...
