Re: Tomorrow is the big day.

If you want to register a .co.uk domain then it only costs £8 for 2 years, see here . I've got a bit of space on my server which would allow you about 10Gb of monthly bandwidth, more than enough to get you started, and would happily create a basic showroom to get you going. Re: Tomorrow is the big day.

It's very easy to create an online shop, the big problem is creating trust. People expect a nice interface, one that doesn't look like the rest...There are very good free e-commerce systems but ideally you need these tailored so they don't look and act like the next...no point in opening a paper sho...

Re: Tomorrow is the big day.

Nvu & FileZilla are what i use to build & upload. Very easy no fancy pish, don't let anyone convince you to use flash & stuff. It can backfire badly and often just annoying. Equally use of basic ecommerce systems punted for free on the net can cause concerns about security. You might wa...

Re: Question for the Educators.

Shouldn't the parents be made aware if the weans are to be outside for an extended period? Thus parental responsibility to ensure child has adequate protect for prevailing weather conditions. If in doubt the wean doesn't go out.

Re: Running a small (tiny really) business from home

Perhaps sales@domain.com or info@domain.com, you should be able to set a catch all to one email address so you can use any number of email permutations and collect the mail from one place. Just picking up on something The Egg Man said. The nature of your product would put it in the category of 'cust...

Re: Running a small (tiny really) business from home

Cheers DS, I hope the advice provided checked out ;) I should also go back to the eBay thing and say that if you are going to use that platform then you should start selling as a private individual, this will give you access to free listings and other fringe benefits. If you that goes well you can u...

Re: Running a small (tiny really) business from home

Here's a link Ken Basically if someone buys a product under auction conditions then they kinda forgo their rights. If they buy at a fixed price, like in an eCommerce environment, then they have a 7 day 'cooling off period' within which they can return the product at their own expense for a full refu...

Re: Running a small (tiny really) business from home

Yeah get money upfront, make sure it's cleared too. Have a returns policy that exceeds the current legal requirement. As banjo says finance is everything, cash flow is king. You need to ensure you have enough coming in to cover the stuff going out. eBay is a good but expensive platform for online tr...

Re: Computer Problems.

A random loose connection is going to give you a random switch-off time. If it's consistently five minutes, that's probably long enough for the heat to build up to the point where the processor says "no more" and cuts out to save itself from frying. Cooling fans can be replaced for a few ...
