Re: Pollokshields Bowling Club

You forgot allegedly . On the evidence so far I take it you are a short arsed nationalist bastard and like to talk pish. You can do this. Of course you came up with fuck all so I can see the attraction in making stuff up. That's one promise a nat has kept. Listen ya pompous diddy, if you don't want...

Sadly I'm not in the habit of recording conversations with my pals in the pub. What d'you think 'bush telegraph' means? The presence of the word 'rumoured' in the second sentence might help you.

Re: Pollokshields Bowling Club

The bush telegraph says the land at Pollokshields Bowling Club has been sold to one of Mohammed Sarwar's sons. No planning application yet, but give it time.

The one on Kenmure Street is KIngston Bowling Club, which is rumoured to be soon facing a similar fate.

Re: whitelee wind farm

I took a wander up to Whitelees yesterday (and have the lobster complexion to prove it): http://s89.photobucket.com/albums/k221/arsemagic/ I followed the road out Eaglesham as far as the house marked 'Carrot' on the OS map, followed the marked path across the field at the back of the house, then too...

Re: whitelee wind farm

I managed to find a pdf version of Brigit's map photo above, on the East Ren Council wesbite via a MTB blog. http://www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/whitelee_access_action_plan_map_-_draft_-_hi_res.pdf Edited to add: If you can get hold of a copy of Saturday's Guardian, there's a nice picture on the cent...

Re: Waulkmill Glen

This bit? http://farm1.static.flickr.com/127/412905189_1825491b03.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/billybollockchops/412905189/ There is definitely running water under the floorboards (well, there was 2 years ago when I took the photo anyway) so any dungeon occupants will have met a watery end. The ...

Re: Glasgow East By-election

What difference will this make to myself and the rest of the East-End? I'm not very politically minded so that is a genuine question. John Mason promised to open a full-time constituency office, so that's progress already compared to the turnip Marshall. Plus, if you're a cynical type, you can argu...

Glasgow in the New York Times

As of today, the New York Times has opened up access to its entire archive for free (previously you had to pay for it): NYT Search (try bugmenot for logins). Only pre-1922 and post-1987 is free, but there are still wads of articles to plough through, e.g. THE SITUATION IN GLASGOW.; One Underground R...

Firstly, I should put my cards on the table and say I am an ex-card carrying SNP member, who showed up for a few days campaigning this week and on polling day. Some of the stories I have heard about this election have been frightening. I spoke to a guy on Thursday who had tried to vote at the statio...

Re: Tunnel Vision

Unfortunately these cost-effective improvements are unlikely to happen in the near future, as they mean standing up to the powerful political correctness, anti-motorist and lawyer lobbies. And what a great success it's been so far! £800m on ploughing the M74 through the South Side, £1bn> on a secon...

According to this list of planning applications (scroll down to page 18), most of the buildings making up the barracks are scheduled for demolition.

Geograph has one picture of the barracks as they were a couple of years back.
