Re: Helicopter crash on Clutha Vaults

My girlfriend is an intensive care nurse and looks after some of the poor souls caught up in the Clutha tragedy. I am so proud of her. She is one heck of a special lady. Totally selfless and dedicated to those in her care. From the accident happening to her arriving at work must have been no more t...

Solar Energy (Electric) Roof Panels?

I'm seriously considering having Solar Energy Electric Panels fitted to our home and have waded through the web sites giving relevant Information. The one thing they don't seem to do is actual end-user experiences regarding how easy the installation is (done by a company) and most importantly how we...

Re: You know you're getting old when.....

When the other half comes into the living room asking "Are you missing this?" holding my right slipper in her hand - I hadn't even noticed I wasn't wearing it! But it got worse - she then asked "Is there any significance it was inside the fridge?" Wearing my pants on the o...

Re: Glasgow Fire stations past and present

I read here that the HQ was relocated to Cowcaddens. What about the new station later built between the Gallowgate and Bell St (west of Morrisons)? Did this replace the Ingram St fire station proper? RR - try this web site created by a friend of mine and is recognised as the definitive source for S...

Re: Mick Aston RIP

Whilst we never missed the programme I really missed Mick and Phil's banter - they 'were' the show for me.

He's a sad loss not only to the millions of the viewers, but the academic profession itself. :(

Re: Yet Another City Centre fire

Mostly the roof insulation that went on fire, caused by a welding torch, was on the news earlier that it will take a week to assess the full damage. Not saying that it wasn't the insulation, but I would have thought an apparently state of the art building in this environmentally aware society that ...

Re: Yet Another City Centre fire

Last week of the school summer holidays is when we used to noticed it all going to $hit, especially if it had been a long, hot dry summer. Schools were/are? a particular target - the ones set on fire a week or so before the kids returned were usually started by stupid kids for 'entertainment', the '...

Re: Old Cars etc Spotted

I think its an east of Scotland car, but for the life of me I can't remember exactly where. What surprises a lot of people in Scotland is there's quite a lot of classic American cars and pick-up trucks squirreled away in garages all over the place, such as Buicks, Cadillacs, Chevrolets, Dodges, Ford...
