Hi guys,

You won't know me because I haven't posted since 2004 and I got this message weirdness, so thanks for figuring it all out that it was Viagra. Less Viagra aggro for me then. Cheers.

Wow, that's amazing, I can't imagine all those parents putting up with their kids living at home. I've been on my own since I was 17, that would drive me nuts. Thanks for the better explanation of the council tax. I'm starting to think maybe I should come for a month or two, just to get my bearings ...

So, national insurance is sort of like a deduction that works like our Canada Pension Plan deductions and Employment Insurance Deductions. Got it. If council tax is based on the value of your house, how does that work if you're renting a flat in a building of flats or a flat in a house? Also, I gues...

Ouch...

Thank you for the links to the grocery stores, I've got a better idea how much things cost now - beef is very expensive! Okay, national insurance - what is that? Is that health insurance? And this council tax thing, ouch! I find it confusing though, the socialists are opposing taxation? Here, we use...

Wow...all I hear is crickets...

Wow...no responses for a while. Maybe I should be more specific. I'm trying to get a handle on the cost of living in Glasgow. For instance, if you earn 12 000GBP/yr, how much of that is taxed away at source? Also, are there hidden costs in renting? Taxes or other? How much does food cost? For exampl...

Ooooh, ouch...

Okay, ouch. Why would I want transport out of Bishopbriggs so badly?

I'm not planning on settling there anyway, as I said before the West End looks good, probably some kind of flatshare.

Thanks for the well wishes...I'm going to need them. So many things to figure out, health care, taxation, visas...good grief.

I don't have a proper Scots map yet, where is Antrim?

My relatives live in Bishopbriggs - does anyone know what it's like?

Sorry for the confusion

:? Sorry about that, Ronnie...sent you a private message. No actually, I meant to thank the person (can't pick up the name right now) who ref'd me to the Glasgow government site, there was a lot there that's along what I'm looking for. So tell me everyone, what are some of the best things about Glas...

 Wow...thanks for all the replies, guys. I should point out that I am a girl. Anyhow, my great grandmother was actually a domestic servant at a hotel at 3 Buckingham Terrace before she passed away at age 26. Can anyone tell me if there is still a hotel there? There are companies here that I kn...

I'm coming home...hopefully....

:D Hey, this seems like a neat site. I'm 34, female Canadian, but my heart belongs to Glasgow and Scotland. My grandmother was born and raised in Scotland but was an orphan at Quarriers homes. She was shipped to Canada at 15 and has wanted to "go home" ever since. My plan is to come to Glasgow on a ...
