Re: Hidden Glasgow Hall of Record

I think Hollowhorn's 'directory' of this site where subjects were classified and laid out in an easy to find approach was one of his greatest contributions to this forum. I miss his wee messages in my inbox but I have to say, as much as Dexter could add a valued contribution to this board and he did...

Re: Sad News

I'm often tempted to suggest that we do something to celebrate the lives of Josef, Hollowhorn, YokerBrian and others. I don't know what kind of format that celebration would be and how welcome it would be but it would be good to mark their contribution to this forum and to the lives of those who enc...

Re: Sad News

Interacted many times on this site but never once met him or many of the others, through my shyness of going to pub meets or difficulties in attending outings on a Sunday. All of these factors lead to me losing out and I missed out meeting in person but I did manage to interact on here and his contr...

Re: Not really interesting facts about yourself

I'm doing the Zip Slide over the Clyde for Breast Cancer Care on Saturday around 1pm. Raised quite a wee bit of money in the process too and still more to come.

Oh, and a happy belated birthday wish to Banjo!

Re: Not sure where to put this.

Does it have to be a derelict or abandoned building?

I ask for a specific reason and wonder what kind of photo shoot you are attempting to do. (If you're able to share that publicly but of course there is the PM button instead).

Re: Glasgow Garden Festival 1988

Thank you Dave! I must have been one of the few Glaswegians who never managed to visit the Garden Festival. At that time i worked for a funeral company in Glasgow who were notorious with their staff turn around (eventually I too left) but found myself always 'on call' at the weekend despite their be...

Re: windows in conservation area

Although this has been noted in the Home Report it does not mean that the local planning authority know about it! Scotstoun and Whiteinch in the west of the city are just prime examples of where replacement white uPVC windows have been installed in a conservation area without planning permission. I ...

Re: 'Style Mile' Monstrosity

Mmmm I wonder if they still use brown envelopes or do they create a company, who creates another company, who creates another company offshore in some far flung destination and then pays money in via BACS which goes to a holding company on behalf of another 'charitable' organisation who then loans b...

Re: RIP Lucky Poet

Truly sorry, although I did not know Lucky Poet or anyone else off this Forum, I would have attended but I have another funeral today in the totally opposite direction and sadly, due to my job, I can't get out of it to attend Lucky Poet's funeral. Respects to all concerned and hope that it goes to p...

Re: RIP Lucky Poet

This is indeed a sad loss to the HG forum and a difficult one to accept at that. I miss so many of the contributors who have gone on the great forum in the sky.

My thoughts are with all who knew him, met him and loved him.

Re: Glasgow's most iconic building.

Pretty good criteria BT, in that case I'd have to add Central Station to the list, Mitchell Library has already been mentioned but it would feature too. Going also by that criteria the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, along with the Burrell, Maryhill Burgh Halls and two historic swimming pools;...
