Dave, I was taught that steam was the gaseous state of water, it seems to be, according to wiki (and the Rev. on Mojo), that modern thinking has water vapour as gas. They're both gas. Water vapour is steam at a lower temperature (below the critical temperature? critical point? something) which make...

Manual focus or a hotshoe-mounted flash with an AF-assist lamp seem to be the only ways to defeat it, and even the latter can be thwarted by some surfaces. Draw a wee x on the ice with a marker pen, maybe.
