Re: Alistair Urquhart - The Forgotten Highlander

I bought that book in a charity shop last week for my Mum, she had an Uncle who was a pow at the same time. It would be nice to see him indeed.

Re: One for the railway heads

Evening, all.

On the subject of Railways, I was wondering if there was such a thing as a kml or kmz file showing the old routes etc?
I've had a quick search on here & google, can't find anything. I was going to search Google "user created maps" but they're down just now.

Thanks, folks.

Re: The Carrick/City of Adelaide

Great news!

Just a shame she might be so far away, but I'd rather that than her be dismantled....might even make it my business to pay a visit one day....here's hoping!

Re: The Carrick/City of Adelaide

if the 20m was found to "restore" her there would be bugger all left of the original and a lot of time and money would be spent conserving the few original bits, either build a replica using modern materials or let the carrick fo to the great shipyard in the sky. i am all for preservation...

Re: Do you feel defensive about Glasgow ?

Yes, i get annoyed with stupid comments like "Glasgow is a midden, i hate it and all the people are alkies etc etc" Quite often these type of comments spew forth from those who worked here for one day from another city, or support "wee teams" or from generally stupid & ill in...

Re: Abandoned Railways - Rothesay Dock Branch And Yoker Ferry

Nice, Jonno!

There used to be old railway cars (only one or two) on that line behind Arnott & Youngs yard until about 1990!
