Re: Whit's fur tea?

Chicken and asparagus fettuccine Sounds nice, got the recipe? Sure. Get the bus into town, go to M&S and pay the woman. Simple. ;-) Had a couple of meals in M&S in May this year, all the way from sunny Australia. Very nice and only a hop, step and jump from our accommodation in Glassford St.

Re: The Anderston Home League

Until 40 years ago there was a Salvation Army corps (branch) at Anderston,
just past the Cross on the right hand side of Argyle street going towards the Kelvin Hall.
Salvation Army women's groups were called "The Home League" and still
are in more than 100 countries around the world.

Re: How far can boats get up the Clyde?

Seath's Rutherglen shipyard surprisingly built several pleasure steamers in the 19th century, some of substantial length, the Benmore of 1876 was 235 tonnes and 201ft. Possibly the best known of its ships was the paddle steamer the Lucy Ashton, built in 1888, and which sailed on the Clyde until with...

Re: Wimpy Bars...

I first saw Wimpy bars in London in the early 60's, (or was it in the mid 50's)
and was intrigued by the company's reported motto " We Intend Making Profit Yearly"
What went wrong?

Re: The Hebrides

Lovely photos Sharon. I still recall the week I spent on Barra and the Uists and can appreciate the feelings of those who left those beautiful and lonely islands as expressed in the Canadian boat song From the lonely sheiling of the misty island, mountains divide us and a waste of seas, yet still th...
