An odd request this I know, and not exactly Hidden Glasgow-esq as such but .... Is there anyone out there who remembers back in the 70's there used to be guys who hung around East Kilbride town centre (generally outside Bairds where the bus terminal is now) with little rhesus monkeys that you could ...

Get yourself a dog.

They're good company and can master the basics of Photoshop if you persevere.

Thank you kindly folks for your help with the reference stuff. Turns out the Exhibition is a free for all now so anyone welcome, although feel free to print out the invite and have it made into a laminated badge if it makes you feel superior, I'll keep aside the good wine for the badge wearers if yo...

Good Man!!

Figured the best way to get a good crowd is the offer free drink route, its working a treat so far, and it is about Glasgow after all so it adds a touch of authenticity to the evening if everyones wandering about with a wee can in their hand.

Gable Ends and semi-demolished tenements

I'm sure this must have been talked about at some point but can find anything relative in the search. Apologies if I'm repeating previous posts... One of my strongest memories of Glasgow was the number of half demolished, smoke black tenements around in areas like Bridgeton and Dalmarnock, my memori...

Thats right so he did!
I'll take a look next time I'm passing the peoples palace, it'd be nice to think he's been immortalised in a painting or photograph somewhere.

Al Jolson

yeah, I remember that guy now! I didn't make the connection that it would be him doing the graffiti too. Hope he's still singing away in whatever institution they locked him up in. I've a vague memory of taking a photo of my friend outside the barras (after a Damned gig around 1987 if I remember rig...

Al Jolson

Ok, an obscure one this... Does anyone remember the graffiti around glasgow years ago where 'AL JOLSON' was sprayed everywhere from the barras to sauchihall street? I used to find this graffiti really bizzare, it stood out a mile from the usual 'F**k this or that' and 'tracey loves tam' type stuff, ...

Interesting one, I posted a message in the 'ideas for new projects section' concerning tunnels under Queen Street that head in the other direction (towards the merchant city) I experienced these first hand in the late eighties when working in a basement clothes shop called 'Void' in the late eightie...

Queen Street tunnels

I worked in a shop in Queen Street in the early nineties. It was a basement level shop with a not very legal 'fire escape' that was an old tunnel that supposably went all the way up to around where Goldbergs used to be. I only went 20 yards or so into the tunnel as it was very dark / narrow / full o...

Argyle Street rail tunnel

There's an open tunnel section at the back of Argyle Street, west end (behind the small 2 storey house, no. 1129 a block up from Creme de la Creme) I used to work there and the only access is at the back of 1129 or round to the right of the back lane (access at no. 1103) Its a fair drop down to it s...
