Custom House Quay Gardens

Anyone noticed that Custom House Quay gardens are starting to take shape now after the development finally happening to tidy them up? The eastern section has been partially landscaped by the looks of things. ANyone know if there was a plan drawn up before the work happened?

Re: Cathkin Braes Country Park Aerial Mast Alarm

No sadly. It just totally ruined the view so my group just went for a walk to the other side of the park (as far as possible) and down through Castlemilk to Croftfoot Station instead of heading back the way we came to Burnside via Fernhill.

Cathkin Braes Country Park Aerial Mast Alarm

Hey guys, weird one for you Glasgow sleuths. So I'm up at the Cathkin Braes Country Park aerial mast at the highest point overlooking Glasgow with a bunch of my students when suddenly, for no reason, there is this siren - like an air raid alarm! It went on for almost 30 minutes before dying off. We ...

Castlemilk Park Turtle Statue

This is a weird one but a family friend of mine said YEARS ago there was a turtle statue (largish in size) near the old bridge leading to Castlemilk Stables in what is now considered Castlemilk Park and Woodlands.

Do ANY of you have any idea if there was any truth in this?

Re: Househill Park Fossil Tree and Chained Tree

Cheers bud. I had heard they had been removed but I was there last week and both are there. Took a while to find them but I did.

Re: The demolition of Sighthill Park and it's stone circle

I took a wee group of forty up on one of my Student Tours Scotland walks. They loved the circle. So much that can be done there. A cycle path to Cowlairs Park would be awesome.

Re: The demolition of Sighthill Park and it's stone circle

I contacted a few folk at the council and there are discussions on the fact. I've mobilised a wee army of Students through Student Tours Scotland (my tourism business) at http://www.studenttoursscotland.com and facebook.com/studenttourssco with some blogs and such. The guys at the council were surpr...

Interestingly, the rest of the signs (actually in Castlemilk) are fine:

Castlemilk Woodlands Sign...we hardly knew ye!

On Thursday last week I noticed that Glasgow City Council had erected a new green GCC Park Sign on Fernhill road on the GCC side (not the SLC side) at the hole in the wall. It proudly read "Castlemilk Woodlands" (A 'Castlemilk Park' one has appeared near the map on Croftfoot Road at the pa...

That and Bough 2 (which has vanished).

On a side note - seen the OTHER sign thats appeared in the High Street entrance to Tontine Lane?

Re: The 25 Cross of Glasgow

Good to know. Be nice for Glasgow City Council or someone to produce a wee walking heritage trail like the Merchant City one that covers old stuff no longer there.
