Re: Hidden Cumbernauld.

I think blue is a wonderful choice of colour. After all, most of all the really great things in the world are blue. Like the sky, and the deep blue sea, and the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, made famous by the Laurel and Hardy song of the same name. Leonard Cohen sang of the famous blue raincoa...

Re: tunnels

I don't know if I'll be able to sleep now...........great photos!

Is there anyone that could grant permission for a proper job to be done on this without fear of being huckled? I'd imagine it would go down well with the good folk of HG.

I wouldn't describe these as newspapers, nor would I describe them as reliable sources of information. Both are notorious defamatory rags.

I agree, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the Riverside Museum is still a cock-up!

Re: Hidden Cumbernauld.

After looking at the 1957 map, the two buildings might be called 'The Coppice' and 'Inchanagh' and one must've been renamed Touchwood House and used by the Labour Social Club at a later point. The Children's home was slightly to the north of there on the site of the present day Bowling club's car p...

Re: Hidden Cumbernauld.

Hey Applemaca that's a great pic of greenfaulds, have you got any more like that? I reckon you're right about the 2 buildings in the centre of the pic, they look like they're exactly where abbotsford road is now built. of greenfaulds in particular? or Cumbernauld in general? http://www.flickr.com/p...

Re: Hidden Cumbernauld.

"had the area now occupied by Tesco as designated for Marks and Sparks." Really? I'd always assumed the rumours surrounding M&S were just that....rumours. Any idea why M&S never showed face in "the Toonie" then? And btw! the nine dragons served the best sweet & sour ...
