Re: Ravenscraig

Absolutely, and Dalzell isn't exactly a tiny site either! 8O

Re: Tower Block Demolitions - Rolling Updates!

That didn't quite go to plan... ::):

Red Road? Red neck!

Could be a bit of a nightmare to clear that up.

Re: Ravenscraig

Excellent footage from your DJI Lawman, what one is it btw? Thanks Scott, it's just the Phantom 1, I like it, it's nice to fly and I like the basic nature of it. Great photos, always good to see the site back when it was in use. That security booth is still there, just on its side in the middle of ...

Re: Tower Block Demolitions - Rolling Updates!

I passed by on Saturday, one of them is down to 3 or 4 floors high and has the main platform removed, a very neat job and it doesn't look like it has been demolished as such. Very clever. I have noticed more activity on the Red Road site, a lot of the red netting has been removed from a few floors t...

Re: Ravenscraig

I can understand about the rest of the site, mixing the soil up to dilute the bad stuff. That area seems largely untouched though, bar the demolitions. That's what makes that are seem so eerie, you could "weed" it, clear the roads and paths then build the buildings again, lay some tracks a...

Re: Ravenscraig

Spot on, but I'm not so sure about the contamination level as that almost seems to be one of the "cleanest" parts of the site, being the main gate/power station area. There is still an active substation there that feeds the Dalzell steelworks, I think that has a bearing on development, alo...

Re: Ravenscraig

My pleasure. That is only a tiny corner of the site, so hopefully I will get a few more visits and try and find some more gems. The thing that struck me the most was just caused by the circumstances of the day with it being sunny and warm, but no greenery, it was quite eerie and almost post apocalyp...

Re: Crocket is to close

Closing down sale, ie, reducing the prices to "steep" I'm surprised they have been able to stay open as long Their prices weren't that bad. Yeah, you could always browse and buy cheaper on the internet, but it was one of very few places which still had a time-warp appeal, which, for me, w...

Re: Tower Block Demolitions - Rolling Updates!

It's not very dramatic, but it sure is a pretty novel way of demolishing a building :D
