Can I ask honest curious questions Reenie? It's just wee things that my mind thinks!

Re: BrigitDoon's Bomb Shelter

Nitrating the latter is best left to the loons (and I've known some); NO2 is given off in furious quantities. I've heard of fifteen year-old lads fleeing their bedrooms when reality hits home. Dad comes home to find he's lost his house and not a bailiff in sight. I know one that is missing his right...

Re: Old Medals

Can you post a pic of the other side of the Queen Victoria one? I'd be interested to know what that one is. . I think the Queen Vic one is missing the bar. I'll hazard a guess at India or Crimea, vague Afghanistan. As the guy said Pete if you give the details round the side of them there's a few of...

Re: Wartime Glasgow--Excluding bombing.

No D. It wasn't directed at yourself. It was directed at the one's that were going on about how there should be a Glasgowmemorial because they deemed it such an important event to themselves yet they couldn't even get the neame right.

Not you as I said!

Re: Wartime Glasgow--Excluding bombing.

[ 8O You of all people Dugald should have no objection to the Memorial for the Andorra Star, perhaps that is why you really left the discussion? There's already numerous memorials dotted about the place for this ship.....and if it worries you that much then you might at least show your own wee bit ...

Re: Old Medals

Quite right Dugald. When I said they're not worth anything I meant in as much as I wouldn't plan my retirement on them. Having had a wee shufty about the you're probably looking at £250-£300 for the lot. Assuming there's nothing particuarly special about the big one.

Re: Thornliebank History help

http://www.scotcities.com/thornliebank_1850s.jpg There's an odd wee row of cottages just off Burnfield Rd between what was Toffolo tiles and what's still Toffolo Jacksons. They'll be, by my guesstimate, roundabout the East-West line an inch or so from the top. Possibly even the wee row an inch abov...
