Re: Staglieno

Sadly, as you can see, Photobucket, which offered free hosting for years (the reason I used it in the first place) has decided to try and rob all it's previous users by suddenly blanking out their pictures and charging a £50 - £400 per year as ransom. I'm afraid I won't be paying them a penny, a gre...

Re: RIP HollowHorn

Always enjoyed reading his thoughts and seeing his photographs, I only knew him through this forum of which he was a big star.

Re: Italy

If you've been following the Staglieno thread on this section of the forum you will have noticed I've mentioned an east coast trip to Italy and San Marino I took back in April. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a190/Tarkyhitch/4733_zpsxfesr1yo.jpg Matera I've started a blog which I'll be using from ...

Well I hope you make it, and that the awful pink scaffolding will be gone. Remember it's close on Mondays.

That should of course read "his" mother.

Re: Staglieno

Back in April, on my journey up the east coast of Italy the train rushed past the main cemetery of Rimini. I'd stopped off at the station there the day before, heading for a hotel in the Republic of San Marino, that separate country up a nearby mountain. Next day, travelling north to Ferrara I had n...

Re: Glasgow 1974: Slideshow

Some utterly superb pictures there, some of them could have been shot by Walker Evans, Bill Brandt or David "Chim" Seymour. Thank's for the share.

I've read a bit about that, apparently this will be run by the same Glasgow Distillery Company. However the opening date was announced as "Autumn 2015" and I take it nothing is currently happening on the site?

Re: Whiskies a gone-gone

And on 24 March 2015 new make spirit was distilled once more in Glasgow and put to bed in bourbon casks to become (in at least 3 years down the line) a brand new single malt whisky. Based in the Hillingdon Business Park, the Glasgow Distillery Company already produces Glasgow's only gin and hopes in...

Re: Exploring old Butlins sites...

Great chairlift shots there alan2001. I bought this never sent postcard at the weekend, another colour saturated outing by D. Noble made sometime in the early 1970's. As well as the fashions and hairstyles the biggest pointers to the approximate date are the hanging cocktail signs priced in the &quo...

Re: One for the railway heads

Got this on ebay this week http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a190/Tarkyhitch/signal%20box%202_zpstszt8pwe.jpg purely because it shows the old signal box which used to stand just west of Dalmuir Station. It made the nameless back ally which runs between Dunn Street and Scott Street seem all the spook...

Re: Staglieno

As quick footnote, at the end of my east coast trip in April I visited the basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. Buried here in Venice is the heart of the great sculptor Antonio Canova in a magnificent tomb based on designs he drew up himself to adorn the bones of the painter Titian. It was co...
