Re: Lost record shops of Glasgow

Robert Downie wrote:Anyone remember 'Jollys' Record store in Govan, popular in the 1950's ?
Robert Downie

Jollys was more a tv repair/sales shop. It was in Shaw Street between
Langlands Road and Hoopers Cash and Carry.

Re: ultrateque disco in sauchiehall st early eighties?

The Tube had a section in there show called Famous For Fifteen Minutes where up and coming bands were recorded in their home town. They definitely filmed at Night Moves, (don't think it was called Rooftops at that time), in Sauchiehall Street.

Re: Glasgow Parks

Seeing the Bing Maps picture has jogged my memory and now I remember this as well. But whether or not they actually were bowling greens at one time I really couldn't say. It used to be owned by the council and was a bowling and putting green. It later, (early 80's I think), became a private bowling...

Re: Central Govan Masterplan

It's Broomloan Road School, I remember it getting used as an annexe for St. Gerards Secondary in the early 80's. Pretty sure it was also used as a nursery and a community centre at that time

That's the tunnel the Ibrox Rapist dragged at least one of his victims into. I'm pretty
sure they all survived their ordeal.

Re: Subway today

Looks like West Street will become a ghost station as from previous experience,
most folk who use it are park&ride. Or park up by the dead end and risk the bird

ran under the river.
