Downstream from Whyt Inch were Buck inch, King's Inch at Renfrew (where Inch castle once stood), and Sand Inch at Inchinnan. Blimey - that's almost a foot! I find myself in the fortunate position of owning a little slice of The Clyde, but no islands unfortunately. There are quite a few small ones h...
Anything you gave on this Mac I would love to see I'm afraid my Glasgow knowledge is a tad spartan. I'm intrigued by the nooks and crannies of The City though and was an avid follower of HG back in the day. All I could derive about Kames Street's from the map was a block numbered '15' and what seem...
Got it thanks. Looking at the 1948-1973 1:2500 Georeferenced map. I see what you mean - apart from the Southern Necropolis there is virtually nothing of the original vicinity left.
How did Kames Street compare to Stair Street in terms of smallness? I'm trying to locate Kames street on a large scale old map without success. I know approximately where it was, but no luck.
Just going back in time to that legendary thread which seems like a lifetime ago (17 years!!!). All those once familiar names, all too many sadly no longer here. Those were the days of the sunny uplands indeed.
I too thought that the forum had run down the curtain and was singin' with the choir invisible. Very glad to see it back and a few familiar names with it. Belated Merry Christmas and a Guid New Year (Andy Stewart style) tae ane and a'.
Right you lot, I’m back and as a Civil Engineer I know everything there is to know about roads! Right :D . Cockbridge to Tomintoul (A939). Why isn't it on the wireless nowadays, enjoying its traditional fame and fortune as the first road to be blocked with snow every single year without fail? Is th...
Very sad to hear about this. I too miss the heady days of Doorstop on HG. Has ever a forum lost so many great members in such a short span of time? Ross is right up there with them in the pantheon of HG Legends & Friends. I salute him and remember him fondly.

Good man. Peace, love and all the best for '22. May it be a good one for us all.
Having had a few, I come to you in that certain frame of mind which, I am sure, washes upon the shores of our minds at such times. Listening to my Frank Skerret recreation and looking at the old Radio Clyde 261 schedules and such. Where did it all go wrong? Where is the communal sense of belonging t...
Very, very sad. and a great loss. Josef was a lovely guy who exuded enthusiasm and was excellent company. Stunned by the loss of so many good people from this forum. RIP Josef.
Hi Pit... Photoshop pure and simple fo editing and tweaking. In this case I take the raw image through Photoshop's Camera Raw add on and thence into Photoshop proper where I'm more at home with the fine adjustments. For this particular photo (shot on the Panasonic) I had to convert it using Adobe DN...
Thank you Pit. Taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC G6 (or somesuch) with standard 14 - 140 zoom lens. The original pic was shot as a raw image and converted to jpeg and TIFF via Photoshop. I often dream about having a truly elite camera but that'd be too much hassel.
Taken a month or two back from about 1 mile outside Lanark (Nemphlar). The nearest tower blocks and town are Motherwell, the further distance includes Ruchazie, and right on the edge of the heavens are Ben Lomond and the Arrochar hills.
