Re: Cycling in Glasgow

That's shocking, you can't even give stuff away thesedays. I would have taken it too, as I was building a bike and looking for spares, but i've done with my project now.

you could try putting it on freecycle as well if that site is still going.

Re: Carbuncle Awards 2008

I think the Carbuncle Awards and schemes like it raise awareness of just how neglective we can be of our built environment. I don't just think its all about snobs having a laugh at the disadvantaged, its meant to be taken with a pinch of salt however there is a serious side to it too. I think Glasgo...

St Peter's Seminary - Saturday 3 Nov & Saturday 10 Nov

Some people are planning to visit Cardross on Saturday 3 & 10 November – to coincide with the opening of the Gillespie Kidd and Coia exhibition. Leaving from outside the Lighthouse at 10.45 and traveling by train, then walking.
Anyone that wants to join in should dress for a winter walk!

Glasgow's new signage

http://www.architecturescotland.co.uk/news/484/Glasgow_signage_to_undergo_revamp.html Glasgow’s central signage and wayfinding system is to undergo a revamp designed to encourage more visitors to explore the city on foot. I would love to be the person in charge of writing the new signs! :D

Two songs

hiya, 'The Rattler' by Goodbye Mr Mackenzie always reminds me of Glasgow, its more personal though as it was released around the time I started venturing into the toon as a young lad. I also think of Billy Connelly's 'Last Train tae Glasgow Central' whenever I pass that particular station. :D J

Excellent photographs Osiris - thanks.

Thanks Fireman, I can't take credit for them all though. The closeups on the Firefighters were taken by one of the girls in our office!

Hi Dave, i don't know much about metal detecting but you could try the woods and scrubland around Cathkin Braes (seems to be getting mentioned a lot around here lately). There has been Iron Age and Roman settlements recorded in the area and it offers a great view of Glasgow. If you get a bus out to ...
