Re: Least attractive Glasgow Train Stations.

Maybe if you live in one of the caravan sites, or work in the industrial estaes nearby. or perhaps even live in Dalmarnock. Theres one close within spitting distance from the station entrance and the whole residential part of Dalmarnock about 3 - 5 minutes away accross Dalmarnock Rd and up Springfi...

Re: Least attractive Glasgow Train Stations.

Good grief, Ken!! Is that REALLY Dalmarnock station? I've only ever seen it from the train - I always imagined up above as being surrounded by dark dismal tenements. Why would anybody get on or off there?

Re: Glasgow Railway Termini

Maybe this could help too. I cropped the relevant section from the 1920 Railway Clearing House map. Red = Caledonian Yellow = Glasgow and Paisley Jnt ( Cal + G&SW) Green = GSW Red and Green = Glasgow Barrhead and KIlmarnock Jnt ( Cal + G&SW) http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r282/ranzaboy/r...

Re: Hidden Glasgow War Memorials.

Don't worry Ian. There was nothing you said that I would have taken offence at. If anything it should be me apologising to you for not reading your name properly and calling you Patricia!!!

Re: Glasgow Railway Termini

Thanks Sir Roger. Anorak's excellent posts reminded me that I had a copy of the Irwell Press Illustrated History of Glasgow's railways and I found quite a bit on the subject in there. For those not fortunate enough to have this book I have selected pictures relevant to Anorak's subject and included ...

Re: Glasgow Railway Termini

Thanks Anorak. It's all a lot clearer now. Fascinating stuff - keep it rolling! I'd never realised there were so many remnants of all that history still in existence. Yet another question though. I've seen reference ( Ewan Scot's Railscot site - City of Glasgow Union railway ) to Gorbals Junction st...

Re: Glasgow Railway Termini

I'm really enjoying these posts, Anorak, but a question! I'm getting a bit confused about Eglinton Street Station/ Cumberland Street. If you wouldn't mind, have a look at Schiehallion's great picture of the station ( past present Vol 2, 27 August 2007) Is this the same station and in which direction...

Re: Glasgow City Shots - October 2008

Peetabix, those three shots are fantastic- really wow.
Bit of a cheek, but any chance you could do the same as you did for Doorstop.
I love the first one, Ingram Street, best of all - so much going on in one photograph and so much atmosphere.
Would love to have that one as wallpaper!!
