Bird's Eye View on Live Maps

Hi Folks

You might have spotted this before, but Microsoft's http://local.live.co.uk now has Bird's Eye Views over most of Glasgow... Just make sure you are zoomed in enough over Glasgow and you should see the option for Bird's Eye become available.

Enjoy!

I agree with blink148 completely: I think the whole 'wireless security' mania is nothing more than histrionics. Okay, someone might use your connection for activities you'd rather they didn't, but criminal liability for this lies with the person responsible for the activity rather than the connectio...

Visiting my family in Valencia, Spain, right now. I'd read about Iain's disappearance in the papers before I came out here... and my parents and their friends, being from Glasgow, had heard about it on the news. We were all really shocked and saddened to hear that Iain's body had been found in the C...

I Work There

Hey Yeah, I work at GCU. It's a good place to work - staff are generally a good bunch, students are great... there aren't really that many perks for staff - you still have to pay to use the gym. The Saltire Centre (the library) is open access, which means that anyone can walk in off the street and u...

I used to play there!

Hi Folks This place brings back a few memories. I used to live in Deanpark in Renfrew when I was a kid, and we used to bring our dogs down here for walks. This was before the Braehead development, but after the building of the distillery and the addition of some pylons in the foreground of the pics....

Yeah, there are a couple of things you've got to watch with ISPs. Throttling - I had an experience with talktalk broadband throttling traffic other than that on port 80 - that meant everything except surfing the web (think xbox live, file sharing, streaming media, p2p) When I called them up and gave...

European countries such as France or Switzerland have had ID cards for a very long time without any discernible loss of freedom. So it really does come down to our confidence in the authorities not to abuse the power that combining ID cards and technology gives them. Yes, you're right - these count...

It's all in the terror...

Just my two cents worth - Bush created politcal capital from the 'War on Terrror' and I believe that the ID Card debacle in the UK is exactly the same. Fear is being used to political gain. The force with which both ID Cards and the raft of anti-terror laws are being pushed implies to the general po...

Could have been something mobile but the sound seemed to come from above street level. We're on the 3rd floor, one above Deichmann's Shoes (glamourous huh!?!) and couldn't see any source of the sound at street level. Just had a wander at lunchtime too... and couldn't see anything wall mounted that c...

Glasgow's Public Address System?

Hi Folks Has anyone heard the Glasgow's public address system? I've got an office on the corner of Sauchiehall Street and Rose Street and heard a couple of tests of it last month. It was during the day when the town was busy and suddenly there was this loud hum and a Scottish voice ot of no wheree s...

Am I cracking up? Has Dial House now become Telephone House? Was it ever called Dial House? How long ago did we get rid of dials on phones?
