Re: Amusement Arcades / Glasgow 80's and 90's - Photos, Info

There was one at the Charing Cross end of Sauchiehall Street in the early '90s, might have been the Big Apple? Also, around the same time, at the top of Buchanan Street, roughly where Top Man joins on to HMV now, there was one in a basement, you went in a door from Argyle Street, immediately turned...

Wasn't the Cotton Club, on Scott Street, was it?

Harlow Street, Port Dundas

Hi, I've searched looking for an existing thread, but can't see one, so....

Does anyone know where Harlow Street was? I believe it was in the Port Dundas area in the early 1900s, would anyone be able to pinpoint where it was more precisely?

Thanks in advance for any info!

Re: Lost record shops of Glasgow

I haven't managed to work my way through all of the posts in this thread so it may have been mentioned already, but there was another record shop at the bottom of Byres Road at the corner of maybe Chancellor Street. I just cannot remember the name of it. Can anyone help? Was that the one across the...

Was that maybe Carlo's, place next to the Kendal?

I think that's the one, yep! Thanks! :)

Re: Anyone got shots from Argyle Street 1970-1989

I used to think it there was loads of tacky american looking shops- they could filmed Kojak and got away with it. Now I'd love to see shots of those pawn brokers, tobacconists etc I remember Dusty Dicks, which was around where the unfunnily named Lettuce Eat is now, think it was a second-hand shop ...

Re: Virginia Galleries

What I remember from the Galleries : AKA Books and Comics - the joys of the 10p box, a cardboard box on the floor with various comics in it with 10p written in black marker on the cover, and the (at the time) mind-boggling collection of back issues. If I remember rightly, you entered AKA through the...

Re: Anderston Centre

There was a police station in the Anderston Centre too. I remember being in it (to collect lost property, honest) in the mid '80s. Can anyone remember where in the centre it was though, or what it was next to?

Re: Bridge to nowhere

The third bridge to nowhere was created when they flattened the Albany Hotel five years ago. Although it was probably hardly used anyway after the bus station and all the shops within the Anderston Centre disappeared. Where did that bridge actually lead to? Did it just lead to the pavement on the n...

Re: Last Famous Person You Saw On The Streets Of Glasgow was

Years ago, I was waiting at the traffic lights outside Mr Chips on Sauchiehall Street next to a couple of long-haired guys in leather jackets. Looked round and realised that one of them was famous-ish drummer Cozy Powell, the other was a bass player who's name I can't remember but I think he was in ...
