Re: St Kilda

It's not cheap and it's not always easy (what with the weather cancelling trips and all that), but it's well worth the effort if you're in the Hebrides anyway. I think the exhibition in the Kelvingrove is still there - saw something there on it about 6 months ago anyway. A few of the folks that were...

Re: Cameras to amuse or covet

You bought one Sharon? Would be keen to hear how you find it if you have! Looks like it'd be great fun. Reckon it'll be great for a lot of things, but I think the best thing is being able to set up shots that tell different stories depending on where you focus: post the image so that it can be refoc...

Re: Framed

Depends on how tight your budget is really. If you are printing a standard size then you can pick up frames in the likes of Debenhams or Ikea. The ikea ones I've seen are of questionably quality though and definitely look cheap. There's a few places that you can buy online and they'll send the frame...

Re: Photography to Inspire

Was passing the Hidden Lane Gallery on Argyle Street this morning and popped in to see the Margaret Watkins exhibition. She was an American photographer who moved to Glasgow in 1929 (if memory serves) and lived in total obscurity over here, to the point that nobody even knew she was a photographer u...

Re: Cessnock and the surrounding area

You can head over to Sauchiehall street too mind, some great bars along there. The Variety has always been worth a stop, as is Sleazie's (if you like that sort of thing)....

Re: Negative scanners

Cheers for the offer! I'm currently on 10.6.something though so it sounds like the Epson won't work. As much as I appreciate the offer of the canon, I'll limp along with the old (scratched) epson I have just now. If you'd be willing to part with the MF film holder on it's own though, it'd make my li...
