Re: Who Police's the Polis????

I once pulled up beside Traffic Police and motioned them to put down their window - then told them that the rear, nearside brake and tail lights were not working. Response, "what the f**k has it to do with you?' I closed window and drove on - then phoned my 'wee pal' based at Helen Street and ...

The Golden Garter was part of the Hills Hotel owned by Reo Stakis. I worked in the public bar, The Rigg, from 1979 until it closed in 1988. The Golden Garter is still there but has been closed for years and the hotel and pub are now the Social Works building. Oh happy days.... Hi robertpool, I wond...

Re: the Chris McClure section aka Christian

Marti Pellow is a good singer, so is Moira Anderson,(more classical) Charlene Spitteri is a smashing entertainer and probably a favourite of mine is Frankie Miller,he certainly wrote the most rock songs that were successful. Belle and Sebastian are also superb, I think Scotland has an enormous talen...

Re: Twenty Films That Make Men Cry

Hi Inkman, I tend not to cry at movies, I admit to the old lump in the throat sort of thing, Dances with Wolves made me sad. What does affect me espescially the older I become, is the sad news of the fine young men and women of this generation being killed in illegal conflicts and the Wooten Basset ...

Re: Tesco planning massive new store in Milngavie

I've been in Milngavie once in my entire life, and that was to use one of the local shops. Namely, to buy a pair of R.M. Williams boots from the bloke that used to run the shop at the corner of Park Street / Great Western Road at Kelvinbridge. Is he still there? Josef, are you thinking of The Glasg...

Re: WiFi locations in Glasgow

The Atrium, off Byres Rd., in Cresswell St., free long time usage available. Friendly, clean and good value. I think their system is "Clouds" or a name like that, I think it means you have to log on with your own ID., but it is free.

Re: Help for Heroes.

Hello again Dex, What are Gwendies ? I have done a wee bit for charities, riding for disabled, Yorkhill kids, Rainbow and another military one. I think what Hollowhorn's lad is doing on his time away from his duties is astoundingly good, when you have been in the sort of situations that young man mu...

Re: Help for Heroes.

As an ex Paratrooper, I have the greatest of respect for all the young men and women who are in our forces and it must be a wonderful moment of pride for you and your family for your lad to be doing this for charity and for serving. I wish you all well and a safe return for your lad when he ventures...
