Re: Glasgow Central Tours {Hidden Victorian Platform}

Went on the tour yesterday. Only disappointment was the feeling that there are a lot more nooks and crannies that Paul knows about but Joe Public will never see... Updating what was posted earlier... Paul says that in the next month or so they will be putting in a section of track next to the platfo...

:evil: had a quick download and looked at Flickr using Safari. Not impressed. Sure, it makes the IBM (this one made in Greenock, y'know!) look like a Mac but the top section of the browser takes up way more space than some of the slim Firefox options. Okay, mebbe that can be customised but putting F...

I asked the-man-who-knows in Greenock and mentioned the Skelmorlie markers. He replied: They are starting and finishing points for a measured mile. The newly made ship would sail past under full steam and they would be able to accurately assess the speed of the craft. They would also use it to asses...

Excellent work guys. I'm stunned that my head wasn't in gear; I worked up and down that sectrion of Maryhill Rd for 12 years and thought I knew the area well! But too late - in the 80s and 90s!
At least I'm happy that I DID spot it as a Garvies Truck! :)

Argyle Street shut

On good ol' Radio 2 around 5-ish they said that Argyle St. had been closed between Wellington St. and West Campbell St. due to 'an explosion on the pavement'.

Can't find anything on the web. Any ideas? :?

A sight to see was Robbie in his convertible 60's Mustang with a 'Ballbarrow' jammed in the passenger seat. Not much space left!

Yep. Did a high contrast B+W one of the Falkirk wheel recently. As a quick try just on normal A4 plain paper it looks great when pinned out. A good tool.

I used to have Robbie Coltrane as a customer when I worked on M/Cs. The big man had a Sunbeam.

Somewhere within the searches... there's that photo of the truck that lost a wheel at the junction and there's Mrs McGlumpher looking at it; big Polis walking along etc.
Can't remember if the hall is seen in those pics and any sign of it's 'past' showing?
